A lil tidbit...

Either the NHL or NHLPA could exercise early termination before the 2020 season.
See page 31 Article 3 of the CBA. LE has his contract front end loaded for that very purpose

http://www.nhl.com/nhl/en...12/NHL_NHLPA_2013_CBA.pdf

All hope is not gone yet.

While the experimenting continues in this rebuild season note the transition is a process and player development is occurring. TG is putting a new system in place. One that will make the Canucks better in the long term as the new players integrate.

Placeholders until prospects can earn top six roles.

Sven, Sedins, Vanek - last three will expire by end of season. Sven will join Granlund as a 3rd liner or get moved out.

Top SIX for a TG system:

Bo, BB, EP, JV, Goldy ... additional candidates: Gaudette, Dahlen & Lind.

Future top forward new look is around the corner. Not counting surprises of another draft and UFA's to factor in as well.

More like the 2019-20 season to see the above take real roots.
Next season is optimistic but highly speculative & wishful too.

Sure. The thing is the top candidates are getting pro exposure so that makes them closer to prove if they are ready for more.

There is also a waive of support or role players that can upgrade bottom six or make it faster and/or more offensive. Lockwood, Palmu and Gadjo standing out so far.

Thanks Carol,

I enjoyed the game despite them getting whooped. Glad to see the Sedins and Vanek stick to 14-16 min. I imagine it will be tough for them to get used to reduced ice time but thought Vanek played decent again.

Hutton was an adventure but could of had two goals had he had some puck luck/ skill. He certainly makes some mistakes with the puck but his skating puts him in positions to score every night. I think if they continue to let him play it will start paying off.

Burmistov looked good again and MDZ as well, both were very solid signings by Benning. Gagner not so much, they need to find a role for him.

Boeser's skill is undeniable but I think he still struggles with the speed of the game. I think he should be in Utica as much as that would be less exciting.
I thought Stecher was better but still looks like he needs a guy like Edler to play with at this point of his career.

Markstrom had a really bad night, I blame Green for that as well, I thought he could of made a switch after the Hamilton goal, the team looked pretty down at that point.

Glad Green limited Bo in the 3rd, once again shows he is willing to make changes on the fly. Horvat will be fine but didn't have a very good game. I think they need to rethink his linemates and get him a playmaker to control that line. Gagner perhaps?

Good asssesment. Doesn't seem BB is struggling though.

By the way congrats on showing Lefty how to draft well and put a winning team together. Going two weeks is no fluke of some player or two having a hot streak. It was a hands down whooping

True enough but i simply point out anyone coming up still has to earn it & keep it for entire season & for good. If that is the case great but still 1-2 players at most might prove they r ready & they tend to be wingers & where we r deepest & there is a logjam. Other than Dank may retire & Vanek a TDL trade that is 2 vets gone at most. If that were to happen the yute movement will be fully in gear. At C its less likely.

Hoping Erickson injury is career ending, never liked that signing and voiced my concerns over it many times on several sites. Most people were happy with the signing back then.
Beartschi and Horvat tend to be puck hogs at times. At least Bo is good, Baertschi is a 4th liner.
Hutton....Pressbox would do him well.
Like how one poster blamed Dorsett for Hamonic goal, yet not mentioning that it was actually Granlund who should have been in position to check him.(last thread)
So much for exciting hockey, maybe I will just PVR all the games and fast forward when our slow line is on ice.
Looking forward to 2018 tell, draft and also game 82, hopefully the last season.

I liked the LE signing at first, but now i see it as a major issue for this team. Horvat is a good young player, he needs better linemates than Beartschi. Granlund would be better for his LW along with Boeser or JV. Baertschi could be good trade bait by TDL. Trade Guddy at TDL. Could likely get us a 1st and maybe more. If he has a good season, maybe get us what we gave up?

Earning and keeping are part of the process for sure. Agree with reservations and points you make. Will add the other side of the coin.

Support players and depth is improving. So the chances of prospects breaking through to stick sooner then later have also gone up. Plus, having options on wing make it more competitive. So the centers will get players who are bringing it. This helps Gaudette and EP.

Thus, the lack of a centers and surrounding conditions probably make EP's and Guadette's early introduction more likely. They probably are getting a look before end of this season. Maybe a Canucks/Comets combo depending on timing.

Now whether they are ready or can handle it will be like what BB is going through. If they falter badly they get a JV send off to regroup and discover at a lesser level what is needed to come back and try again.

The rebuild keeps going either way. The elusive measure of success with timing, fit and development.

I don't see the big deal with Eriksson myself, but i know some need a whipping boy.
Baertschi sucks and we've all known that for awhile, and somehow he get's put down as a 1st line winger on many rosters.

I like Gudbranson and would re-sign him myself.
this team needs more grit, not less.

Sven is a slow starter. Top liners are not easy to find for this team right now. Maybe he gets moved down like LE.

If so, do you have Granlund in with BO and BB or call up producing Goldy and have a look?
