Absolutely, but to be honest and I state this fully understanding that correlation does not mean it was a cause, but Pat Lafontaine was an executive for TWO franchises, Islanders and Sabres. He left both abruptly with little notice and they both entered a tail spin.
Now, the Sabers were AIMING for the bottom of the barrell with the pedal to the metal prior to Lafontaine. But given the history from Long Island and Kevin Snow's story, though I don't know for certain, I can't help but think he's getting a pass where he shouldn't.
According to Snow, Pegula left the hockey decisions to the hockey people so he wasn't really involved in hiring Murray. So Lafontaine hired him and then quit when he wanted to do something different.....AGAIN.
