I really liked Stecher's game last night. May not have got on the scoresheet but I thought he was moving really well!

Poulliot was quietly good too.

Thanks Carol.

Great win by the canucks and all that but being a music aficionado, we really want to know your opinion on Trooper's place in Canada's rock pantheon.

- bloatedmosquito

My main entry point with Trooper was the "Thick as Thieves" album. I don't remember having been especially excited about the big hit, "Raise a Little Hell." I liked "Round Round We Go," and I liked that they were local.

After that, "Hot Shots" was the go-to album around North Vancouver for a good long time.

I was thrilled when I got to DJ at one of their shows for the first time—in Kamloops, in the 80s. Possibly the same summer that I saw the Hip for the first time, so they are connected for me. Trooper was the legendary band, the Hip were the upstarts.

I played "We're Here For a Good Time" to death as a 'get 'em dancing at the beginning of the night' track, and worked with them several more times at the Commodore. I think I saw them most recently at the PNE in 2010.

They kinda lost me when they started playing "We're Here For a Good Time" at the beginning *and* the end of their shows. That was just too much. But I do give 'em credit for a catalogue full of catchy, memorable hits and one song that still gets played in hockey rinks—even in the U.S.

Almost everyone thinks they're going to start Nilsson, eh?

I'm not so sure. If they started Nilsson, it's basically telling Markstrom that he's lost the starter's job. All of 5 games into the season.

Also, it goes against the last 30 years of Canucks' history, where the guy with the bigger contract gets every single opportunity, even though the guy with the smaller contract is outplaying him (ie. Boeser getting sent down this year, Stecher last year, Schneider riding the pine, etc...).

- stringerbell

With the back to back of Boston/Buffalo, I would suggest that perhaps Markstrom would get Boston and Nilsson get Buffalo, since he would be more familiar with the players on that team. Don't think TG is too worried about #feelings.

Ya there wasn't much going on at Athol Murray when he was there, his mindset was no one is gonna outwork him.

Were you at Athol Murray at the same time as Jon Cooper?

That's a great storey and a perfect tie-in on this occasion.

Geez Carol, vast Canadian rock and hockey knowledge? All you need now is poli-sci and you got the true Canadian trifecta.

My money's on you if there is ever a Canadian Jeopardy.

Here's to hoping Green goes against the grain and starts the goalie that deserves to start. That is Nilsson right now.

I didn't play for the Hounds, I played against them in a different city. I don't remember Cooper but it was the same timeframe.

It is my belief that if you are truly rebuilding a team any roster position is up for grabs and should be filled based on performance.

I agree. Would you then sit Gagner, give Jake his minutes and play Chaput?

They sent him to Utica this morning. They are making room for Megna and Chaput.😆

I agree. I think when you have two question marks in goal whoever is giving you the best effort keeps the net. I'm just watching for good mechanics and technique and some sign of confidence from our net.

Not a big fan of the term 'hot' for good goaltending. Now give me 6 wins in a row and I'll say a goalie's hot.

Very impressive win!...team much more structured under green..Bo looking great! And Nilsson has the size and mobility of today's prototypical goaltender. .maybe give him the run of the net?..best of luck moving forward!

Gotcha. I wasn't clear on that from the way you worded it.

I chatted at some length with Cooper about that time when we were at World Championships. He had some great stories.

Anyone who's played hockey at the Major Junior level or NCAA and above has great stories. Those were some of the best times for me.

I was out golfing with a few of the boys the other day, former NHLers, the stories were flying about the "good old" days. Len Barrie, as we were at Bear Mtn, came up a few times
