That play is why Hayes is so fun and frustrating to watch. Cause for a big man, he skates and protects the puck so well. Just doesn't do it enough.

You can swap out Hayes for Nelson and this would still be entirely accurate.

just got hosed.... that is not a kick, he angled his skate.... BAD call, according to the letter of the law
- MiloslavHorava

That goal reversal call was reminiscent a few seasons back of a Miller goal not being allowed in the closing seconds of a game at Philly, resulting in a 1 goal loss. But during that same season, there were two very distinct kicking motion goals scored by the opposition in other games which counted, that were very much of a TRUE kicking motion. With Miller, he was skating towards the net that game with his skate angled on the ice when approaching the crease area for a rebound or whatever. Then with the puck coming across, it deflected off his skate, without him turning his skate in an attempt to direct the puck on goal, yet in the net, or using it as if it were his stick blade at all.

Keeping him fresh for OT.

Seriously though, he wasn't having a very good game. Kinda odd to sit a guy when you only dressed 11 forwards to begin with, but whatever.

Barzal deserves to be quadruple-shifted.

Shattenkirk is great at defense. Just got undressed with 5 seconds left in the game and if not for Hank we just lost.

Hank just saved the season with thiose two last second saves, off further defensive breakdowns, including making one seconds earlier on that wrap around by Czikis, with McDonagh right near on that side just watching him.

How about McDonagh, buddy? He let Czikis come around the net to his side, to take that wrap around shot on Hank, while he was just watching from close by within reach.
