lol...after the Rome Hit Bettman and Campbell had all the leverage they needed to make sure the Nucks weren't going to win.
Throw in Luongo and were were pooched.
- LordHumungous
I think the boys figured they had all the leverage they needed in the Tampa Bay series. Rome was merely in the wrong place at the wrong time.

From the Mason Raymond Wikipedia Page:
Entering the 2011 playoffs as the first seed in the West, the Canucks eliminated the Chicago Blackhawks, Nashville Predators and San Jose Sharks in the first three rounds to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time in 17 years.
During his first shift of Game 6 against the Boston Bruins, Raymond suffered a fractured vertebra after getting hit by opposing defenceman Johnny Boychuk. With Raymond's body twisted to try to retrieve a loose puck, he was engaged by Boychuk, who proceeded to hit him into the boards after the puck had gone by.
Bent over at the time of the hit, Raymond collided with the boards tailbone-first. He was taken to the hospital after initially being helped off the ice. Raymond later described the injury as "the most pain - YeOldTimer[he's] been in ever." No penalty was called on the play nor did Boychuk receive any discipline from the league following the game, which drew public criticism from Canucks general manager Mike Gillis.
Dr. Recchi managed to get everything sorted out for Boychuk. He explained to Mr. Jacobs in medical terms that Raymond's injury wasn't all that serious and there was no need for alarm. Jacobs in turn let Gary Bettman know that the matter was considered closed. Gary passed the memo on to Gregory Campbell's dad, and he let Mike Murphy know that it was simply a 'hockey play' and not blatant interference or intent to injure as the replays seemed to indicate.
Can't wait for the Canucks to get back to the NHL playoffs!
Edit. Also, thanks Aaron Rome. Not enough of us appreciate how you sacrificed your career by playing for the Canucks in that series.
I know a lot of people wont watch the nhl because of that series. |

I can't believe that the Canucks let the Islanders steamroll them in the '82 cup final.

Many things factored in that we just don't know with Bettman and his merry band of idiots.
But to me that Bruins team had no business being on the ice with that dominant Canucks club that season...and they were given every opportunity needed to make it work. The Tampa series was gm 7 OT so it could have went either way.
Ya Ya the PP dried up...Luongo choked...AV pulled the reigns on Bieksa Torres and Lappy I get it all but still it would have ben nice for the Nucks to have just found a way to win by beating bettman and the Bruins at their own game. But not to be |

Just saw this on the 1040 website
Dave Tomlinson believes the Sedins need to be given more ice-time by Travis Green. Dave says for what they are getting paid, the Sedins need to produce and they can't produce with what they are currently getting.

wtf? (9:20) It shouldn't matter what they are getting paid. |

I don't know what to do with them. Maybe treat them as PP specialists and cut back their 5v5 time. But that doesnt make sense if our pp has been sucking for the last few seasons while they were the first unit. |

pretty sure last season he was saying they needed to be second line players and support guys.
They lead the team in PP icetime per game and middle of the pack for EV, they are getting the icetime that benefits them most |

I just realized how much better than Trump I am, he said he could shoot someone in the middle of 5th Ave and not lose any support, well I could shoot Donald Trump in the middle of 5th Ave and I'd gain support. |
