I like Martel a lot. He is around a lot during arena tours and was at Phantoms youth practice this week. I think his NHL upside is a bit limited though. You see a guy like Weal make up for his size by being strong on the puck. I don't think Martel can do that at the NHL level consistently. That said, I am not sure he has stuff to learn or anything in the AHL so if they wanted to give him a shot so be it. I see a few other guys above him on the roster though. - YuenglingJagr
I know one thing, i'd sooner see Read back in than Lehtera. Once again maybe not fair because he hasn't played at all up until last night but last night was |

I missed the last 10 mins while getting dressed in the locker room (skated with some friends on the ice after the game) other than catching the last few mins watching on the tv in the locker room but from what I saw
Pluses - Neuvirth again played very well. He has been the better goalie by far and should be in again tomorrow. This is the goalie that makes us just hold our breath that he doesn't get hurt because he is playing so well. though Sanheim and Hagg had good games. watching Provorov, Ghost, Sanheim and Hagg is just a joy. Despite being shut out I thought the top line had good chances. just couldn't bury one.
Negatives - I thought Gudas struggled again. He has not played well this year so far but its early. Plenty of time to right the ship. Hated 15-51-17 line. That said I really like Filppula's overall game this year. Granted Lehtera hasn't played at all and was thrown on the line but It just didn't look good. Really hoping Weal is back tomorrow. - nastyflyergirl
Totally agree about 15-51-17 they just looked bad compared to the other lines. 11-19-22 is a solid line since Weise trails the play when TK and NoPat drive into the zone.

My mistake. Point is still the same though. He didn't look like a rookie last night.

I'd be fine with that, I just think we know what a Lehtera/Read bring to the table, and it's not much. Another possibility would be to move Raffl into Weal's spot and bring CMac up for a game or two on the 4th line. He's shown the ability to be a solid 4th liner in limited doses. |

Doesn't change the fact that they'd have pretty good success over the years against both Quick and Rinne.
If you're going to discount all past history except for the last 7 games and only the current season matters, then Rinne is moot since they don't play them again. |

Pretty sad that's what flyers haters always say. I hope you responded that the kings were just a weird novelty until Gretzky and then still an afterthought other than 93.
Furthermore they didn't win until they bought into becoming "flyers west coast". |

To be honest...I was expecting to be shutout after the Caps game. Seems to happen whenever the Flyers score a bunch of goals. This time it was deferred to after the Panthers game. |

The statement from the NFLRA about Pete Morelli is hilariously familiar
“Claims like these demonstrate a fundamental lack of knowledge about NFL officiating,” Green said. “NFL officials are graded on every call made in every game. Missing a single one can hurt his or her ranking and may be the difference between working in the postseason or not. These recent attempts to sensationalize statistics and create click-bait headlines lack important context. Without the proper perspective, the information being pushed is completely misguided. The passion of NFL fans and teams are a big part of what makes the game so great. However, it’s no excuse for the irresponsible and baseless claims we’ve seen lately. NFL officials are committed to upholding the integrity of the game and do so every week.” |

I didn't realize that one of this board's posters prepared speeches for the NFL referees. |

I think Weal is an underrated piece of the team. He may not ever put up huge stat lines, but they guy is a damn good player.
We now have the depth to put players into their proper roles (at least 90%), but what we lack is top-6 depth. Everything fits nicely as long as there are no injuries. - jmatchett383
This was a first sign of what this team is with injuries...there was good chemistry on all 4 lines and they were producing...last night the team was about a step behind in several scoring chances and against a good goalie...If they can continue to gel and build chemistry throughout the lines they will be able to work through these injuries over the course of the season...the biggest issue was the difference in speed...Weal is way faster and it was clear that was missed last night...
A tough loss for sure when Nuevy played a solid game for them...
They have balanced scoring as long as they are using speed...when it isn't there you fall back to a one or two line team which can be easier to defend against.
two losses against the team that played in the SCF last year by one goal each game is a pretty solid improvement from the poop show we watched last year...and had Hak not challenged the call we could have been looking at maybe at worst an OT loss and 1-0 loss against a very good team only 7 games in... |

Yes, that is the 5 minute argument. Although on here it usually upgrades to the full half hour version, sometimes it just never ends.
Watched the whole thing, love those guys.
I got to see them live in NYC in the 70s. Funniest thing ever. Waaaaaaaaay crazier live.
They did the lumberjack song. George Harrison was one of the Mounties. They did a few skits in the tribute to George concert that were done live and funny as hell. - jaws1955
That is just awesome. You are so lucky to have seen that. |

I wouldn't mind seeing him though...though I do think he is a bit limited. He does forecheck well and is a larger body (i.e. replacing Raffl, who moves up the lineup) |

They probably would have been better off moving Raffl to the Filppula line and putting Read at 4RW last night. |
