one game suspension is fine. I am not surprised. Once he left his feet you knew that there would be a suspension. - canuckfan069
Only his right foot was off the ice a bit. |

You only have to look at both hits and make judgment and kassians was worse, the video tells the story but then again the league always makes bad examples of the canucks. - Bettmanhatesus
I find delusional Canuck fans also make bad examples of the Canucks. |

If this was the case then players would turn their backs all the time and there wouldn't be any hitting just an insane amount of holding calls. - manvanfan
Maybe you misunderstood me, I think there is responsibility on the puck carrier to protect himself which means they cannot expect to be safe if they make plays that leave themselves vulnerable, IE accepting a suicide pass |

I'm still pissed about the non instigator penalty that should have been called. Even though the Bruins scored all of their pp goals in the final 3 minutes of the pp. The game could have been different if the Canucks would have scored on a 4v4 scenario. |

I haven't seen the Kassian hit, but the Gudbranson suspension was warranted, that was a text book dirty hit. He charged, went high, had about 2 feet of height on the guy, and hit him right in the numbers.
I'm thinking we see WEirchoch called up over Biega, he plays the right side as well. |

Meh, to me his should position never changes until he releases the puck. I agree that there is onus on the player with the puck to protect himself, but Gudbranson had options to make contact and retrieve the puck within the rules - thus the suspension - WhiteLie
Yeah it's one game and there is also the question of leaving the feet so I don't think Nucks fans should be outraged by the suspension.
I guess it all comes down to the fact that some people see a subtle, yet important, last minute shift by Vatrano and others do not see this and think nothing significant about Vatrano's position changed at the last moment. It would probably take a much more detailed look with multiple camera angles/zooms for those two groups of people to convince each other so it's pretty much an impasse. |

the game would have been exactly the same, our PP and coverage were a dumpster fire. |

True. The cases I dont like are when a player shifts like that and in reaction the defender tries to compensate for being beat and does something suspension-worthy. Fans like to blame the victim for turning as opposed to the defender trying to make up for being beat
Regardless, with all the camera angles, I have reasonable faith in the former NHLers running the department to appropriately understand those nuances you mention and decide if the actions were deserving of suspension |

Gudbranson was looking for the hit.
if Vatrano was at 75%, 1/4 turn one way, and it is shoulder on shoulder, 1/4 the other way and it was Guddy hitting numbers.
Guddy done wrong. anticipated and was wrong.
I love the solid checks but I'm guessing it will all slowly be phased out and we will be left with incidental contact, the occasional big hit and the debate will be all about intent. |

All players need a chip in their head so we can determine their intent.

Ahh okay my bad. Open ice hits suicide passes are probably a no hit zone. Speed through the neutral zone is fun. Along the boards, anyone that turns towards them is there own stupidity. |

we have gone from preaching, "keep your head up" to don't touch anyone with their head down.
I'm waiting for 3 or 4 digit player numbers that wrap completely around the body. |

Then stop being dilusional. What happened to the call on the ice was enough that's what player safety usually says. Its a contact sport and its fast and these things happen but they pick and choose who gets disciplined its so obvious. |

textbook game misconduct.
I thought the suspension was a little much, considering the Bruins destroyed us in that 5 minute span. But its only a game, top 4 defensemen get these all the time, don't know why ppl are freaking out. |
