On another note, Sabers inside guy on radio interview said Kane has always been hardworking and effective on ice. Off ice he has changed and stayed out of trouble. Plus is playing a supportive type leadership role within dressing room. Trying to elevate players.

But insider believes Kane and/or Reinhardt will be dealt for Defensive help.

Vatrano's back was turned prior to Guddy engaging. Vatrano's did not turn his back at all. Guddy also elevated himself into the hit needlessly. It's an easy boarding major and suspension to call and was a bad hit. Hopefully the league consistently can call and enforce it.

The Canucks have been screwed over on other calls, this is not one of them.

I don't think the Canucks are hard done by, the league has always been inconsistent. I also don't think it was a bad hit. 2 minutes was appropriate. Bring back contact

If Vatrano doesn't turn his back to make the play at the last second, then the majority of the hit is shoulder to shoulder, Vatrano can use his right arm to brace into the boards (which is what happens in 90% of these types of hits) and nobody is even talking about that hit.

I mean I'm not crying about the one game suspension. I could care less. I just dislike when foolish people like Vatrano make a bad name for contact sports in general leading to a further crackdown by the leviathan baby-sitter government.

I haven't seen the Kassian hit, but the Gudbranson suspension was warranted, that was a text book dirty hit. He charged, went high, had about 2 feet of height on the guy, and hit him right in the numbers.


I'm thinking we see WEirchoch called up over Biega, he plays the right side as well.

Let me address your concerns... one of which is valid, the rest shouldn't factor into anything.

The easiest I'll address first

2 feet in height difference, please tell me how height difference should be a factor? Honestly are we going to penalize for being tall? Are you short and mad at tall people?

Hit him high? He's tall.... yet he hit him 'between the numbers' on his back... not high which would have been his head.... so no, it's not a high hit.

Charging? Really? Do you know what charging is? It's when you take both feet off the ice when hitting, this didn't happen. It's also called when the severity of the impact is due to the speed of the player being so fast... this also wasn't the case, gudbranson took one step towards him and crushed him because he is so much bigger.

He did hit him between the numbers... yup, should have been a boarding major and nothing more.

Depends on how they want to call it but it was dirty, not with intent to injure however. The recieving player could have defended himself and some onus needs to be on him.

Im fine with one game, kassian should get 5 games as a repeat dangerous offender though.

It was a 5min major but was a turtle job also.
Its one thing to avoid a hit & another to leave yourself unprotected.
Hitting in hockey is a lost art for so many & taking a hit seems like a big problem so many again put themselves at risk. Going back to Rome & his 5 game suspension there was Horton cruising thru centre ice admiring his pass.

You remember when Edler used to hit and then got suspended. Hope same doesn't happen to Guddy. He was being aggressive and got singled out because the play turned on a dime. That split second of hesitation you now see from Edler is enough that it's too late to make the hit.

So now hope Guddy doesn't go into cautious mode like Edler and overthink to commit on hitting. Like the what if I am wrong and get suspended. It's a fine line playing aggressive. Which is why once you make the suspension list you know the benefit of the doubt is gone.

My bet is no until u go read up on it.

Yeah it's one game and there is also the question of leaving the feet so I don't think Nucks fans should be outraged by the suspension.

I guess it all comes down to the fact that some people see a subtle, yet important, last minute shift by Vatrano and others do not see this and think nothing significant about Vatrano's position changed at the last moment. It would probably take a much more detailed look with multiple camera angles/zooms for those two groups of people to convince each other so it's pretty much an impasse.

Ulf Samuelsson was the classic example of a puck carrier making a shift & him putting the knee out.

Gudbranson needs to bring it every game to get a decent contract. I like his aggressiveness.

He deserved the suspension, but I want to see him be a bully out there.

Circumstances earned Guds the 1 game.
Players who turtle r hurting the game & putting themselves at risk. Something has to be done about them. Dept of Safety never addresses them & the NHL doesn't get involved to educate either.
