erat for Forsberg was worse
I hope JB is being aggressive in at least calling about young players. lots of lockerroom issues drive good young guys out. - neem55
I view that one a little different in that Washington had a ton of talent at the time and they traded some unproven youth for a veteran to try and compete. It didn't work but that's purely hindsight. They still had a boatload of talent and were trying to win a Cup.
It never hurts to listen but I don't think, personal opinion, the Canucks should be trading any picks at this point in their hybrid rebuild. Player for player, I'm ok with that. |

I know but as a winger and almost half his goals come on special teams. He's not garbage, I just don't think he's what the Canucks need. Actually last year 9 of his 17 goals came on the PP. - LeftCoaster
As a developing left winger he would be the best this team has, both on the team and in the system. |

Ehrhoff for White
Lou for Bert - bloatedmosquito
The Luongo deal was a steal for Nonuts. Keenan had a major hard-on for Bert. Clearly a dumb deal on Florida's part.
Ehrhoff I don't think was in that category, a clear win by Gillis but Ehrhoff was a cap dump by SJ and he wasn't an All-star player like Luongo. |

At what cost though? That's the elephant in the room. |

I am ok with another losing season beyond this one to wait for other prospects to be ready, I dont like the scorched earth rebuild but I also dont want to overpay UFA's with term and money. It'll be interesting season and offseason, especially if ownership isnt sold on JB - WhiteLie
I agree, at this point I like what Gudbranson has shown to start the season but that may change. As the TDL approaches we will get to see whether he is trade bait or Benning makes an offer.
This talk of picking up Reinhart or Duchene, although interesting, I hope is not in Bennings plans. I do not think this club is ready to be adding without another year of really good drafting, maybe even two more years.
Personally that's my realistic timelines, that's when I think the Canucks will be competitive again. |

Exactly, it's hard to make deal's these day's. A fit for both teams, careful JB. |

A lot higher than a 3rd pairing D, marginal middle 6 winger and a 2nd round pick... |

Oh believe me I know all about assertive bosses, especially when they are proven wrong after their decisions come back and bite them in the ass.
I was playing with A_SL because he's the boss and has to get pissed at himself for implementing his dumb ideas, only to look in the mirror and say I told you it was a stupid idea "BOSS" |

EG is an interesting scenario. Would you sign him to a 4+ yr, 4+ mil a yr? Even with the way he has started the yr, is he worth that? We are weak on the back end but I think JB needs to recoup whatever he can at the TDL |

I think his future is back in FLA. We probably won't do well in that deal |

Gudbranson is a tough call for me. Though he looks more comfortable and the depth in that position is in horrible shape, I just think he is at or very near to his ceiling and his contract demands will put the franchise in a bad position going forward. I'd still like for them to move on from him than try and retain him
I am of the same timeline as well. Draft high this year, have another bad year with high draft and then I think the next core will start to emerge to build around |

The name Sam Reinhart was thrown around tonight who at this point is struggling (low cost ) no one is giving up the farm to get him .
It doesn't have to be a Duchene trade. Teams like TO are looking for D and have a forward to move.
I think Benning is doing the right thing by looking to see what is available.
Pouliot is a perfect example Canucks picked up an eighth overall for a fourth and Pedan. Pouliot seems to be fitting in quite nicely - VANTEL
It's a good thing. |
