I think a lot of that has to do with McDermott. He seems to be very highly respected and the way the team is playing is largely due to him at this point. I'm cautiously optimistic. We've seen this before....

Love pommer , huge heart, plays the game with everything he has. Doesn't need to hit, he's a leader, former captain and proven nhl player. Also having a great season at 34.

He doesn't stand in front of the net with "classic tip in's" also not the best net front presence since vanek.
Pommer is fun to watch at the games, last night he was buzzing out there, without top line mates

Risto looked lost for 30+ games his rookie year. The difference is those 30 games counted as an accrued season. Many rookies look lost which is why they afford them the 9 game “tryout”. So yes unfortunately this is year three for him. Like it or love it those are the facts.

Part of that is the agreements between the NHL and the major junior leagues.

Some players are too good for those leagues, but there's no recourse.

That's why I'm all for raising the draft age to 19
