I thought Manning was by far the worst of all defenseman tonight with turnovers and being caught out of position many times.

I watched Patrick leave the ice and being helped to dressing room and it did not look good at all. He looked very very dazed and would not be shocked to hear he has a concussion. Is there not now a minimum timetable for anyone diagnosed with a concussion no matter the severity that they have to be out for?

Elliot was brutal tonight, but he did not get much help in front of him. Our speed and breakouts were sure not there either.

Patrick was up in the press box in street clothes at the second intermission and then milling around near the locker room after the game -- so he was pretty clearly not diagnosed with a concussion tonight after he was tested. However, the key will be how he feels tomorrow and thereafter.

Manning was bad tonight. But so were pretty much all of the defensemen at different times. That includes Provorov.

I agree with all your points, except I think you give Elliott a little too much of a free pass. He's basically been brutal through the first few games of the season, and is not an upgrade over Mason, although he wasn't good by any means, either. Maybe the answer is giving one of the young goalies in the system a chance like Stolarz.

Tough game. If only we had a tough, big physical defensman that can skate that is good enough to play in the NHL. That’s right, we do, wasting away in the minors after beating out 2 regulars at least in the pre-season. If i was Sam Morin, i would demand a trade. He would easily be in most teams starting six. Spoiler alert: we are not winning a cup this year. We should be getting our young players experience for the future . I would rather see Morin playing and making mistakes than Manning and Amac. Someone should tell Hex and Hak this isn’t a lifetime job.

it was still 1-1 when Patrick went down. With the line juggling after that and the new D pairings on top of ANA's playing a good game, the Flyers were done in the 2nd. The Flyers depth is now getting tested.

I'm okay sacrificing 2 points to the gods to show Morin needs to be playing in the NHL

I really hope the silver lining is Morin playing next game. This game sucked!

Mason was actually pretty good as a Flyer for the most part, especially at home (road was a different story). Elliott was bad in Nashville and tonight, adequate (no more, no less) in three of his wins and quite good in the Edmonton win.

Having seen Morin numerous times over two seasons with the Phantoms and before that in a fair share of streams of his junior games, I can say that I don't think tonight's game was one where he'd have done well, either.

I like Morin quite a bit but when the Phantoms need a settle-things-down shift in a game that's going off the rails, well, he's still learning to do that. He pours gasoline on the fire less often than he used to -- whether it's with a bad penalty or a low-percentage gamble -- but he still too often lets his emotions get the best of him when there's adversity around him within a game. What he's gotten better at is playing under control when the team as a whole is playing that way.

If we are really honest, while the Flyers (mainly the top line) had their share of scoring chances in the first period, too much of the period was spent in their own end and turning over pucks. That was masked by the 12 blocked shots in the first period but was just a matter of time if they kept going in that direction.

But, yes, things got further complicated with Patrick went out and none of the revised D pairings clicking. Elliott also had a poor game -- he was more lucky than good until the deluge but OTOH, the downright soft one came after the horse was already out of the barn. I don't fault him on the Kase deflection goal, the Ritchie rebound put-in on the power play the Montour goal or the Rakell one. The third period one by Getzlaf was awful, and he committed way early on the penalty shot goal.

Yes, he is (or at least has all the physical tools and the upside of being so). But it is very hard to get away for long with starting three rookies and a second year player in a group of six. Not saying that I would have a problem with giving Morin games -- not at all -- but if he plays, Sanheim sits and Manning would still probably stay in. Hakstol also is far from the only coach who would do it that way.

the team sucked, and elliott sucked. a couple i give him a pass, but that's it. he didn't give them a chance to win. he's had one good game so far. take neuvirth out of the equation...he's going to have to be much better if they are going to make the playoffs. i'm very disappointed in his play thus far. very.

i didn't like all 3 pairs being shifted to start this game. if sanheim can be moved to accommodate manning, who was (frank)ing horrendous, then he can be moved to accommodate morin on the left side. i know, i know, i (frank)ing know. 3 rookies, blah, blah, blah.

gfy.

It's a team game so no one player is at fault, but why keep throwing Elliott in there. Those deflating goals he lets in remind me of Chechmanek on his bad days. Do we get to see an Elliott good day or?? Lets get Neuvy in there more.

I tweaked MJL last week (I know, not hard) When I INSINUATED (his word) that AMac was with Provey ONLY because Provey is the only one on the team that could carry him.
It was said in sarcasm, but fired several poster up. For what it is worth, I think AMac has played well this year. We saw last night that maybe AMac means more to both the team AND Provey then he has EVER been given credit for. Forget about how much he makes. What I spend on the Flyers a year only amount to about $.50 cents going to AMac and even I can afford that. He has his issues but has done a Good job this year and as much as I want Sammy the Giant in the NHL, after that dumpster fire last night, the 6 playing together now have to gel a bit before Sammy comes in. I for sure wanted him in THIS game. (frank)ing Perry and Getzlaf have pissed me off for years. I want them pounded. Of course in the hardest LEAGAL maner no cheap stuff!!

I think the fans, the players and the organization should expect more then 1 good game out of every 6.

.87 save percentage, i know it is a fancy stat and all, but that isnt good enough.

I believe that MacDonald is unfairly criticized and is a much better player than given credit for by the fan base. However, I don't believe that having him in the lineup last night would've changed much last night. Same with Morin. I understand the physical match up suggestion, but he would've been toast last night also.

Agreed. It was plain ugly, not much positive to draw from it. Every player on the team save for maybe 2-3 was bad last night. Weak on pucks, outskated, outworked. Give the tape a quick once over, burn it, and move on.
