[quote=tomburton99]Mackinnon isn't on the market so....
- rangerbluelou[/quote} Neither is Skjea, but if they want a young dman thats got huge upside and small salary then listen to an offer and see. Matt Duchenne is leading the AV's in scoring. Maybe they'll keep him instead.

No they won't keep Matt Duchene, that is 100% certain. He hates it there.

I still don't think it'd be the end of the world to (have) trade(d) Tavares to someone with a ton of defensive talent like ANA. Scooping up a guy like Montour or Larsson and a bunch of other pieces wouldn't have been the end of the world. Barzal is proving to be as awesome (in an admittedly small sample size) as Isles fans hoped he would be.

Does Snow keep him if you guys are high in the standings and let him walk for nothing though? Could get very interesting. This is assuming JT doesn't want to re-sign

Taking absolutely nothing else into account, yes..you have to keep him and risk losing for free if Isles are doing well at the trade deadline.

That said, if they fail to win a Cup (obviously a major long-shot) and Tavares walks then Snow has absolutely no excuses whatsoever. Would probably be fired and would cement himself as one of the most loathed figures in Islander-history.

Would be tough to take a young, unproven defenseman like Larsson and another prospect. Not a knock on Steel, either.

I would rather see: Larsson or Montour, Rakell or Silfverberg, two 1sts. I have no idea if that is reasonable or not, if I'm being totally honest. Regardless, too late for Tavares talk. I think he's here for the duration of the season and we'll see what happens after that.

I'd pray for it if I were you too.

I still think he wants to be here and will ultimately stay. But regardless of that, it's still pretty nerve-wracking.

No, I think he's gonna stay. But if he left that blog would be fire flames. OMG so good.

He probably is, but he has no pro experience at all yet. Putting up 50g and 131pts in 66 games is impressive in juniors, but that is in his fourth year as an overager. I'd like to see him step into the AHL and do that and then I would feel more inclined to believe he's the real deal.

I honestly don't know about that. I think it would be more of a calm-shock than anything. I think the fury would come a little later.

He's only 19. He had to go back to CHL or Stay with the Ducks. I get why you'd have hesitation, but he's more than likely gonna be Canada's #1 center at the WJC this year.

That's what most Euro leagues do. NHL wants to do that.

Yeah not knocking the kid at all. And while I was "technically" correct about how many years he has been in the WHL, the first "season" was only 5 games...so that doesn't really count.

No doubt he is highly-likely to be an impact player in the NHL. But trading Tavares would have a lot of risk in it and that would make it a bit riskier, not having a body of pro work to go off of. Not Steel's fault in any way, but still.

Lol.
At first glance, I thought that was Tom. I was about to reply, "I'd expect that from MDW!"
