This roster has serious holes in it, and serious unknowns long and short term.

This team has long and short term cap issues that nay restrict them moving forward.


Up front.
The team has one sort of finisher in Kane who may or may not be here in 10 months.

Okposo, we want him to be a number 1 winger, he is not. He is potentially a bad contract.

Pomnmer, love the player but in reality it's an inflated contract and he is probably not a first line player. A very good all around player that is fine on the second line if you have an entry level kid slapping 25 goals a year on the top line.

ROR is a very good all around player. Is he a 7.5 million dollar player? Maybe if the 5 on 5 point total increases.

Reinhart is a winger, period. The center experiment needs to end now.

moving forward, I don't think you can have these 6 as your top 6. 1 or 2 may need to be moved. Our 5 on 5 production the last 170 games proves it's not good enough.

I am not concerned about the 4th line and feel with girgens, bailey, larsson and pouliot, there is enough pieces for 3 to form chemistry.


On D

it starts and ends with Risto
He flat out needs to be better or this team needs to find a number 1 d man.

Scandella IMO is fine as a 2 or a second pair as long as he has that rock playing with him that can move the puck, score and hold his own in our end.

Mccabe, jeckyl-hyde. Some nights he looks like he deserves 23 minutes a night, other nights he looks like he needs to spend a night in the press box.

Does Guhle fix the top 4? Don't know


Bottom pair, not worried. Fix the top 4 and it will be fine.

Lehner is fine as a 40-45 game starter. He really is. Is he that 65 game bell cow you want to ride for 5 or 6 year, right now no. 12 months from now, who knows

you can have the best coach in the nhl behind the bench but when you are challenged to perform average at basic skills, you are more likely to have a team thriving from the "saturday game" than achieve success that you want from a proven NHL team

It really is baffling how bad everyone not named Eichel is at passing.

I think they're fine cap-wise long term. The only question is Okposo and if he can find his game again. If he can it's a fine UFA contract. Healthy he's not Backes, Ladd, Lucic.

I would say Eichel is a finisher as well.

You can blame Colorado and Calgary for ROR. They're the ones who were paying him $5M and $6M. He was going to get a raise. Should we have made the trade? Maybe, maybe not. Most successful teams have that shutdown center.

Reinhart certainly seems like he's a winger, but with the injuries he's forced to play center.

Pommer's here for another year after this one. I'm not too concerned about it.

I don't like this let the opposition get behind the defense and leave them in front of the net. It's not blown assignments it's strategy. Risto is playing way too much, but then who else will?

Lehner can give you 50+ games. If this is the team we need a better goalie. If we're a good team he's fine.
