According to the rules, he did not make a mistake.
- MJL

Actually according to the NHL rules he did. Might want to read up on those before you preach my lord.

Seems like the ridiculousness of bringing MacDonald into it is the schtick here. It is not reasonable to expect the referee to be infallible and always know where the puck is and whether it is live or not. That's why it's the "ref should blow the whistle when he loses sight of the puck" and not the ref "should only blow the whistle when the puck is no longer live".
- MJL

so what's the point of the ref stopping play when he looses site of the puck? Does it indicates that the ref believes the goalie has the puck and play should end? If so, we can clearly see, in the replay, that the goalie didn't have the puck and play wasn't dead. I don't really understand why it matters what the refs intention was.

You might want to step to the plate and actually bring something to the table.

Flyers came out on the wrong end of reviews tonight. It sucks. Hopefully that gets made up at some point, later in the season.

Saw it. Lots of rules in the NHL rulebook. Ref has final say.

Just did, like the portion of the rule the NHL highlighted to rule in favor a San Jose goal. Where it says you can use replay to review intent to blow the whistle.

Which the referee and those reviewing clearly didn’t realize, thus actually (frank)ed the Flyers.

While a large portion of the game was ugly. You can't hold it against a team that scores 6 goals on a goalie who was then named player of the game. That says a lot about what he was up against.

Which..... he was wrong. Because he obviously didn’t know his rulebook. Which means, Flyers fans are right for calling him a clown.

Which also shows your argument of it not being reviewable to be....... wrong! Gasp! I know that kills you more than the loss.

You're incorrectly suggesting that the referee doesn't know the rulebook. Unless the referee refers the call to the video judge, the referee has final say.

And he was wrong. He blew the call that (frank)ed your favorite team out of points.

Flat out wrong. And if it wasn’t that he didn’t know the rulebook, that’s even worse because if he knew the rule and still made that call the problem has even deeper roots.... that he’s not just a poopty referee, but he’s actually a (frank)ing moron too whom has poor judgment and possible integrity questions.

Because it’s clear to EVERYONE, but him, that it was a goal.

So Tuesday we got robbed by the blind mice and raged. So tonight it's like they wanted to rub it in and make it even worse.

Hopefully they are all pissed off about this game and they take it out on the Maple Leafs Saturday. I have no idea what the answer for who plays goal Saturday or moving forward. It really is a pile of steaming poop back there right now.

Thing is, its why both guys are basically back-ups/platoon type of players at this point in their career.

Was a gamble to go with them, hopefully one gets on a hot streak.

Neuvirth I really can't blame. Even though he's played light years better than Elliot he gets benched for a week at a time between starts. Can t get any rhythm that way. Also He gave in 1 stinker and 2 medium difficult ones tonight but he also had many defensive breakdowns he coveted for.

That clinker off the post that beat him from the other side of center ice after we pulled within a goal late in the 3rd was pretty bad.

This game was about as maddening as the rest of my night tonight. Love dealing with major telecom company off hours when their trouble reporting system is garbage.

At least they didn't just roll over and play dead like on Tuesday.

That's the only thing I take from this.

Referees will suck occasionally. Goaltenders will give up softees.

It happens.

On to Toronto.

I'm gonna steal the "P" word from the Sixers.

This year, it's about the Process.

Ghost growing into his role. Provy growing into his role. Hagg and Sanheim just growing in the NHL. Leier. Laughton. Konecny taking a bigger role on this team.

It's all gonna take some time for it to come together.
