Fella said (you bolded):
Van look like vastly better teams this year and imo didn't make any real significant changes to thier rosters.
The only statement of fact in there is that the two teams mentioned look "vastly better". The second part is his opinion (that's what "imo" means). He does not consider the changes to be "significant". You clearly disagree, but you respond like a richard.
Lol, I love that u thought ur post was gonna be a clever diss.
Sssshhhh
Despite your interpretation, there was no disrespect intended. You sound like a richard.
Next fella says:
I think he’s referring to the part where neither team did anything this offseason. Both made many changes. People that were writing them both off before the season started were blind.
This is a friendly response in attempt to clarify. I assumed that you were speaking about both his statement of fact as well as his opinion, the former of which seemed to be a silly thing ( imo) to be flabbergasted about and you provided no clarification on your disagreement with his opinion. It would have been appreciated if you discussed said organizational changes instead of just responding like a richard.
Should I disclaim that an iq prerequisite is often necessary before potentially reading my posts ?
I didn’t realize they were so difficult to interpret
Even the friendly response starts with "I think he's referring to..." which suggests that he, too, is not entirely certain. So yes, your facetious "realization" that your posts are "difficult to interpret" is actually true. Also, you sound like a richard.
I may not be the smartest man in the world, but I can safely deduce from this thread that you are, indeed, a richard. |

The bolded (especially the second) are absolutely bizarre statements and one can only wonder where the eff u got these ideas
On another note, Henderson’s thoughts are bang on here. Overall a little worse with loss of depth, no upgrades on defence (sekera injury compounds it) and a total dependence on internal improvement. The koolaid drinkers predicting cup didn’t bother to think about how many question marks there are with this team. They never do. Everything’s just always gonna go exactly to plan.. - HB77

Lol
But ur insinuation that “it’s obvious that van is better. Just look at the standings. Duh” was meant to be a friendly retort?
Or the “diss” on the oilers. Just rational discourse right? Of course.
Vancouver IS clearly better. Even if they slow down tomorrow, the evidence of their record right now is beyond debate. What was I gonna do? Selectively bold words not in unison to make it clear to the masses? Way too much work. plus, The intention was clear. Not my problem u weren’t able to decipher it and missed badly on your clever rebuttal

The “pundits” for the most part jumped all over the oilers dik.
But that’s what they do. They love the sexy pick and don’t really bother to know much about teams other than the leafs or the habs (not decrying the coverage discrepancy. Don’t care. Just stating A fact )
Hell, they picked the oilers to be great multiple times over the rebuild. “This is the year. Look at all that talent!” Again, totally ignoring the massive deficiencies the oilers had.
Homer fans too I guess. But every fanbase has those, so whatever.
End of the day, They showed some promise over the last few games, but unless the stromes, sleps, caggiulas etc start making a real impact, this team’ll probably be battling middle of the pack for most of the year |

The pundits also think Matthews is better than McDavid and Marner/Nylander better than Draisaitl.

Its true. Many do
Connor gets a hundo, wins the art ross and the Hart.
Ten games into next season, “Matthews has 14p in 10 games! Way better than Connor who only has 10 in 9!”

Lol. Lots were. You’re not alone
My buddy who’s not even an oil fan actually argued with me how great they were and wanted to bet me theyd come out of the west.
Wouldn’t listen to a word of protest and objectivity from an actual oilers fan.
If it was any other crest ida taken the bet, but one has nothing to gain by betting against your own squad.
Id rather lose the cash and the oilers do well. |

Oh come on now. That describes half of the oil fans on HB alone without getting to the rest of the fan base who also are described by this. Do you ever listen to Edmonton radio or check out other sites like ON, Lowetide etc etc??? |

Sorry that you got all hot and bothered over my stating the obvious, I sincerely didn't intend offence. You're clearly misinterpreting posts yourself if you think that I "dissed the oilers" there. I stated the (obvious) fact they're 2nd last in their division, ahead of the lowly Yotes. That was actually a "diss" on the Yotes, if anything.
If you're specifically referring to his opinion that they didn't make significant changes, you could've just bolded that part of the sentence, leaving out his observation that they "look vastly better" (which you're now saying you agree with). That would've made you're comment more clear and it boggles me that you think that it's "too much work". When you bold both, you imply that you don't understand his perception of the obvious improvement (which I stated without calling you an "idiot", like only a richard would). Like this:
Van look like vastly better teams this year and imo didn't make any real significant changes to thier rosters.
But that's too much work? Or am I still misunderstanding? Your sentence: "Selectively bold words not in unison to make it clear to the masses?" makes no sense. Go look up the word "unison". I don't think it means what you think it means.
Beyond that, you could've actually been a quality poster and explained your reasoning -- that Vancouver had made significant changes in the offseason. That would've been a post that I would've appreciated reading.
Lastly, from my experience, people going around claiming (particularly on the internet) that they're smart while others are idiots are actually quite stupid (or maybe just young children, and if that's the case I feel a fool for giving you the time of day). Fun fact for your education: Socrates was proclaimed the wisest man in all of Greece by the Oracle of Delphi because he openly claimed that he "knew nothing". Try chewing on that. |

They exist. I think we've gotten accustomed to assuming they mean those of us who don't agree with them, but that's an assumption we may be wise to stifle. It's more fair to assume they simply mean the actual mongoloids who neither can nor will be able to defend themselves- whether due to lack of presence in these boards or lack of mental faculties. |

Montreal is a ship without a rudder They better hope Price does not get hurt They will sink to the bottom of the league and never get out. Oh wait they are already there - holeinone
Price is already playing fairly mediocre.
Which is probably a good sign in that it’s not like he’s standing on his head and they’re still losing.
Personally not a big believer in the habs, but He starts to plays to the all world level we know he can and they could turn it around.
And then add to that some puck luck?
They’re certainly capable of being in the top 3 in that division.
Outside of tbay/tor, they ain’t really inferior in the least. Still pretty apprehensive to believe Ottawa is as good as they seem. |

Why do Oilers fans get so riled up about Matthews being in the conversation of being the best player in the league? First time it’s ever happened to the Leafs since the sixties, maybe longer. When people have that opinion it’s not dissing Connor. Matthews might be the best two way player ever for a sophomore.
His even strength numbers are off the charts. They were great last season and even better this year. Don’t understand the insecurity with you guys. |

One’s an art Ross/hart trophy winner that just potted a hundo. The other guy hasn’t done any of these things.
But Matthews is hella good and I’m totally willing to revisit once he does. Or even outperforms Connor over a full season. Hell, let’s talk after 40

Fair enough and for the record I’m not saying Matthews is better. But he’ll be part of the convo from here on out. The trophies are nice but they don’t mean much. All the years Crosby didn’t win them would you have traded him for the guys who did? |

Course not. Just a decent metric for these convos. There’s gotta be something more than “well, cause I said” (not implying ur saying this)
And that’s why I was sure to even say points or maybe a deep run in the playoffs. Neither could win an award and they’d still be in the convo for best player. Just saying that let’s give it some time for Matthews to achieve some accolade or outperform him over a significant period |
