I see both sides of it and agree that if possible they need to find a way to somehow make it better. I think both goals in the spirit of the game should've counted. I don't know how you can remove the human element.
I'm far more bothered by the Manning disallowed goal than that play. - MJL
The human element is what makes the game exciting. Can't get rid of it.
I hadn't seen Bill Daley comment.
Had a similar situation in the finals last year where a leaker snuck through and was tapped in after the ref lost site. I think that was game 6.
Ok, I get it, it wasn't a goal but damn I want it to be.
These things will even out in the end but damn, how far away is the end where things even out. |

I feel the same way. The spirit of the game is to let the players decide who wins and loses and not the refs.
The further illuminate when that rule would apply, if that leaker snuck through and rolled into the net on it's own after the intent to blow the play dead, that's when that rule could apply. That's one continuous play.

In my opinion based on the current rules, the right call was made on that play in terms of not being able to reverse the call. One could argue that the ref needs to do a better job, but in my opinion based on the circumstances of bodies, stick, pads in goal mouth scramble, expecting a ref to always be right on when to blow the play dead is an unfair expectation. - MJL
Oh, I understand the ref can't be in PERFECT position. Hell , the ref checked Simmer in Ottawa and he was at the top of the circle 40 feet from the boards. Four guys that are not part of play, have to dodge the other 12 guys on the ice. Guys skate between you and the play, screening your line of site. Bang into you, hit you with pucks. It's a tough gig.

All teams have been both the victim and benefactor of quick whistles.
The game in Nashville, the ref lost site and blew the whistle before the puck went into the net and the puck was in the net prior to the whistle in Ottawa. Gotta think they can tweak this a bit. |

Yeah, I would have fired them after the interference by Gudas. |

If we get some new refs every year someone has to be leaving. Weather they are fired, retire, quit or just not offered a contract. I know they have a union but not sure how the individual refs are hired. Not interested enough to check it out.
I know the better refs are supposed to get the bigger games and they supposedly give playoff games to the guys that evaluate the best.
If 15 games are played on the busy nights, then we have 60 on ice officials working the games. They can't all be great. |

Do you know if any official deserved to be fired for performance?

No practice today. No recall announced. So if we do have to recall I gotta assume they'll go Morin sanheim since they won't have time to practice together you want people familiar with each other.

I am feeling a disturbance in the force. Hexy is looking and I smell a call to Nick Schultz. This is starting to concern me.
Do the Phantoms play tonight? Then perhaps Morin comes up after the game. Can't play five D the whole game. 5 for the third periods in the last two games was enough. It did force players to get comfortable with different partners. That is a good thing.
i'm just trying to wrap my head around the whole situation. I want to see Morin up. We are running out of defense men. Well, it should be an interesting week.

Man, if they were to bring in a guy off the street rather than call up Morin, I'd be pissed. Gotta think Morin wouldn't exactly be happy either. By all accounts, after a slow start, he's playing very well in LHV.
My guess is that being Sunday, LHV probably has a game tonight so the call up comes after. That would at least allow him to skate with the team Monday morning, prior to entering the lineup. |

If ghost is out long term I could absolutely see him looking at a veteran. |

Come on, I thought you guys were the Broad Street Bullies! I figured Gostisbehere would've went to the bench, chugged a beer, let a out a big WOOOOOOOOOO like Ric Flair and then would have went and started punching Komarov's face in!!
On a serious note though, it was not a pretty hit and even though no penalty on the play, I figure he's going to get 2-5 game suspension. Hope the Ghost is not out too long. - NewfieStud

On a different note, how cool is it that the Flyers have 12 points to start the season. It is still Oct and they have a chance for 2 more, at home on Monday against the worst team in the league. This has been a schedule from hell to start they season and they have have been in the game at the end in four of five losses. Got hosed out of points in two losses.
I think we all would have been happy with 6 wins to date.
I like the fact that in spite of injuries, they find a way to win. Must have something to do with the first line. Those freaking guys are awesome together. Shame Coots can't finish.
BTW, I'm pretty sure that Coots was in the shooting hole on PP1 and ripped a great one timer on the only chance he got. Fil scored with PP2. It was only one PP as that's all we got. He looked really good there for a minute. I like this move. It leaves Ghost on the point and just adds Simmer to the line that has been kicking ass at even strength. |

I hope this is the case. Defense is supposed to be our strength. I want to live with the prospects now. This is how the good teams do it. The call up the young guys and work them into the line up. I think Ghost was second on the D in total games played With AMac out. There is not a lot of experience left and Gudas and Manning aren't playing all that well. Could make Hexy and Hak a bit nervous. |

The only problem there is that in addition to being a better skater, Matthews is also much bigger and stronger than either Manning or Gudas for that matter. I think Matthews wins those battles. |

Hey BiggE, are you still in Key West? I hope all your friends made it through safe and with minimal damage. My sister was looking to spend Christmas there this year. She was thinking of changing plans after Irma. Let me know how things are for tourists. PM me if you prefer. Thanks. |

If Morin gets called up and gost is out long term it makes sense to go get a veteran. Otherwise your one more small injury away from Brennan or alt? Could maybe get a guy like garrison to be the 7th d man.
