Video also shows why this was not an instigator. the guy came up to Murphy and then both agreed to go. If the guy had jumped Murphy then it's an instigator. So I think all in all the refs did fine with this play. |

Hey, those Flyers are on the up and up. I'm loving the way their building that team.
The things I would do if I were Stan to pry a couple of those young D away from Ronny H. - Justin Lowe

Just to add, I think any higher and he would have definitely gotten a penalty, but otherwise looked okay. |

Gotta see how he and the team as a whole do in the next couple-few games. If they can get on track, fine, keep him up. If they're scuffling, some sort of change is needed and he seems like a good candidate. It might be good for his long term development to spend a couple of months playing against AHL competition for a while. There are some guys down there who would be worth looking at. - matt_ahrens
You can accomplish the same thing by eliminating Bouma. DinkyCat has been fine. He isn't over-matched at this level. |

In another year or 2 Carolina may be playing Philly for a trip to the Cup, both are loaded with great young D. Philly may be even deeper. |

Wonder what it would cost to acquire McDonagh from NYR (with some salary retained). Anisimov, Forsling + for McDonagh 50% retained +? |

Maybe drop Seabs to the 3rd pairing and limit his exposure until he gets his head out of his butt. Time to maybe stop pointing the finger at his partner and point it at him. He is not going to be benched/press-boxed and he is not going to all of a sudden get faster, but he can definitely play better than he has. Biggest issue with him so far IMO is his turnovers and unforced errors. - TheTrob
I am fine with 3rd D pairing for the time being as well.

looked like he launched a bit to me. Murphy needs to stay in the line-up. He has been fine. As much as I like Rutta, he is the one who has been scuffling the last few games. |

Who is our L3-C? Who provides net presence? I am surely not on the Anisimov bandwagon, but if the guy is playing motivated (which he has been lately) he provides a tremendous service to the Hawks, the willingness to get close to the blue paint. Hayden is the only other one who really does that with any regularity and he isn't on a PP unit. I am fine moving AA, but we need someone reasonable to pivot Line 3.... |

I personally didn't think Kempny did himself too many favors last night. He got beat/caught a couple times and those same old mistakes don't seem to be gone from his game. |

Not unless Carolina can find at least one more dynamic player up front. At this point Philly's is mostly potential. Provorov is on his way to being one of the best though.
Big fan of Slavin and Pesce. |

Agree. MK and Seabs were two of the weaker links on the Hawks blueline last night. This pains me to say because Seabs is my favorite player, but when Cody Franson looks like a Norris winner in comparison then we got problems. I don't know why...he is older, but surely not to the point where his play should be diminished this much. |

Agree and I think they'll eventually find that player even if they have to move a kid like Hanafin to do it. Also agree w/ Philly, but Ghost and Povo are awesome. Morin has star POTENTIAL...yes. Potential is just that no argument.
Sorta like the White Sox...they should win the 2020 World Series based on the bucket load of high end talent, BUT...it may not come to fruition as well. |

Definitely need an upgrade if they're going to have success.
Tried to add an impact C at the draft but nobody would bite on their draft picks. |

He did. I still blame a lot of the breakdown on the forwards though. They all seem to chase the puck carrier and end up on the same side of the ice. Teams break that pressure and are coming up ice with speed and numbers. Seabrook IS struggling but last night Rutta was getting beat at the blue line consistently leaving Seabrook alone and scrambling. |

Hanifin seems like the obvious choice but remains to be seen.
Think Francis wants RNH, but not sure Edmonton is willing to trade yet. Might be a bit gun shy right now. |

Skinner needs some help. Peters is a coach I like a lot. As we both know, at the end of the day, you need guys that other teams have to plan against. |

BOOM! I love that Murphy throws his large body around. His hockey sense is still a work in progress, but love the physicality. Like others have already said, that is the definition of an instigator penalty. Franking NHL Zebras are a GD joke. |

Yea I doubt the Oil would do that. They would be down to like 1 line. Doubt they'd do that. To trade Hall, Eberle and RNH in the span of a little over a year or so would be mad.
Carolina has the perfect trade partner with the Lanche. You get Duchene and have the high end D young player (Hanifan) they'd want. You'd have to probably throw in another prospect or a high pick, but I think there is a real fit with Canes/Lanche.
I also am not in love with Car centers overall...Faulk, Staal are solid and I do like Faulk, but nothing really high end on this list. You add Duchene to Faulk and Staal with Freddie on line 4 that's seriously good. |

Noah's getting better but he isn't what he's hyped up to be.
You're right, though, that trading him for RNH would likely be a waste, but leaving Jeff Skinner on a line with Derek Ryan and Josh Jooris is just plain cruel. |
