Anyone here know who arty57 is on sportsnet comments, sounds like a hire to trash canucks management and owners - Bettmanhatesus
Why would anyone hire someone to do that? You could throw a stone and find ten people in that distance who would be willing to do it for free |

Good comment.
I seen last night someone asking if Dorsetts scoring has dried up? The Canucks didn't score last night and got one the game before. Same as Vanek wont score 20 here. |

It's entirely fair
Gudbranson was paired with Brian Campbell for an entire year on a playoff team and still didn't produce. |

Scoring chances given up, shots given up and denying zone entry by breaking up plays at the blueline is pretty much what a dman is judged on by everyone, including coaches.
I've said all along that I really want this team to have some functional toughness, guys that are good players and can stand up for teammates(not Sestito's and Pedan's). Gudbranson has looked better this year, but he does tend to get caught playing man to man defense when it's probably not the best thing to do at the time and it sometimes results in leaving a man open in the slot/crease area. I think he's been handling and moving the puck better in recent games though.
The other issue is that speedy forwards easily gain zone entry without having to dump the puck in against him. I like his size/toughness for sure and do think he'd shine in playoff games when the refs sometimes put the whistles away, but he has some glaring weaknesses that limit him from being a guy you can trust against top lines like you can with Tanev. - Nucker101
Good points and why Guddy wont be a top pairing D in the modern NHL game. But as you realize there is a need for him and my point that it takes different elements for team chemistry to work well. I hope they keep him as he's young enough and fills that role for years. Then Canucks can elevate their D with puck movers.
Bringing in Pouliot and getting rid of Pedan is a JB adjustment. He keeps talking about wanting a right shot QB D so you know he's looking at building blocks. |

His offense is offensive
But to be fair out top goal scorer is Derek Dorsett so the line forms behind Guddy of players on Canucks not loved for their offense |

Interesting numbers, and they have there place.
I like Gudbranson, I like the way he makes others pay when in the D-zone, where as Stecher panics and turns pucks over just as bad as the Canucks not being able to hit the net.
I also like Del Zotto and Beiga, Hutton has the worst shot on net, it's definitely more powerful than Tanevs muffin shot but he can't hit the net, even if they increase the nets to soccer size he'll still miss by a wide margin. - Makita
Yeah they are just puck movers and have no shots. The new type high end D seems to get off a quick, powerful and accurate wrist shot.
I don't know if Hutton, Stecher, Tanev, MDZ can improve their game on shots. Even a little improvement there would be a big boost to what they can do now.
But ultimately Canucks will have to draft a D with that shot ability built in. |

My realtor called today and told me that it will go away soon enough and the rains will come. Seems you had a dry spell there of late. Need the rain to conduct the engineering tests on the Island. |

I hope that people that are applauding the process over the results right now aren't gonna be the same guys who rip on other poster's for bringing up a player's influence on the team's scoring chances and shots, whether it's positive or negative.
You can't just choose to bring up shot and scoring chance differential whenever it sheds a positive light on the team and choose to ignore it when the team is winning despite getting outplayed or when a player you like is on the ice for more scoring chances against him than for. - Nucker101
People flip flopping the stats drives me insane.

We need rain simply because we went 4 months almost without a drop.
I'm just whining because we haven't put on the winter tires yet and we have to get to Vancouver tomorrow for our trek to Seattle via Amtrak. Oh, and it's Nov. 2 and it's bloody snowing!!! |

People really forget how bad the Flames Oilers Minny were back in those days, it sure helped playing them so many times a year. |
