We need to make a move. This isn’t acceptable.
Move Sam now while he has some sort of trade value. |

Another idea would be to acquire a worthwhile linemate who can help him produce on the third line.
Let’s take as a granted that he doesn’t create on his own. Let’s take as a granted that he’s good not great.
But there are ways to say yes instead of always saying no. |

While I don’t disagree, I think moving him is one of the few ways to get a good top 4 blue liner, without decimating our core, or spending 7 mil a year on one.
If they can turn Sam into say Jake Bean, or Samuel Girard, or someone with that upside, it can also make it possible to resign Kane (which at this point, why not) |

Players I’d keep for sure
-Eichel
-Kane
-Risto
-Scandella
Players I’d listen to Offers for, but would want to keep
-O’Reilly
Players I’d be calling other GMs to move
-Reinhart
-Okposo
-Beaulieu
-poliout (sp?)
-Bogo
Players I’d be looking to dump as quickly as I can
-Molson. (Doubtful, Buyout Candidate)
-Gorges (doubtful)
-Tennyson
All the rest I’d be packaging with the last group above to move them

I have a feeling that the team has a GM with much more patience than the fanbase has. We have more talent in the organization than we have on the NHL roster. |

Not being a smart ass here, but trying to understand where this talent is.
Why do you say that?
Sure, Middlestat, Pu, Asplund, Nylander are all EXPECTED to be up and comers ...just like Reinhart, Girgensons, Bailey, Baptiste, Pysyk, and others were.
My point is those are unrealized expectations...educated hope really.
As far as JBotts goes, he has to have patience for proper evaluation and I’m all for him holding out judgement even though I would love to see a purge already...I’m a fan with a reaction not an NHL GM...so I expect him to wait until say The TD. |

(frank) this poop, I say package him to Arizona and over-pay for OEL.
Reinhart
Moulson
McCabe
1st rounder
2nd rounder
for
OEL |

As a likely bottom 3 team, I’d hesitate on packaging too many draft picks...
How about inserting Girgensons and Bogo and take Molson and 1st out |

Jesus christ.
I can't believe it's this hard. It isn't about whether the youth will be AllStars or not, it's whether they will play with enough basic competence to make them improvements over such current deadweight and deadend roster holders as Griffith, Nolan, Molson, Tennyson, Larsson, Jacob Josefson???
That's a very very low hurdle.
In the back Tennyson is a farking disaster and Falk and Fedun have never been able to prove they are long term NHL solutions.

So in my hockey league I'm up 167 to 163. We both have 5 players each playing today. Both of my goalies backups are playing today.
Would it be worth it to drop my starter and pick up the backup? |

It really is this hard, Jesus Christ. lol.
What makes you believe those guys are going to be better when Reinhart a 2nd overall is struggling to find if he is a bonifide NHLer our just a player living off Jack. Or Bailey, Baptiste and others look like tweeners like Tennyson, Falk and Fedun are presently.
Personally, I think Nolan and Larson are just fine 4th liners, I’m very concerned about those I mentioned and the likes of Okposo, Bogo, McCabe, etc. even Jack being a top 5 Center that a Generational talent should be. The problem isn’t the Bottom 3 and 3rd pairings. It’s the friggin Core that is underperforming.
Unless that group starts playing consistently like $4m to $10m they are paid and picked to be...well good luck with Baptiste, Bailey and Asplund carrying the load on the 3rd
I question the Sabres scouting and development organizations based on their track record ... not because an 18 year old Junior player is playing well in the Q or the O against 16 year olds.
Jesus Christ.

Yeah but every team has bad contracts.
I would say the Top 5 guys on the team have done their job - sooner or later - and the bottom 5 guys on the team have done theirs. The problem is nobody is having a spectacular year, and the meat and potatoes have been frozen TV dinner instead of gourmand stew.
(Maybe.) |
