Housley does look like he's in over his head. I was on board with hiring him, but I did have a fear that the fact that he has only been a coach at the pro level for four years might be a problem. I think he's a good coach, but perhaps he's been hired too early.

First and foremost, I am a fan of the Buffalo Sabres, have been since the 1971 season, 46 years ago...older than most of the poster here.
Nope, doesn’t make me better, nor smarter, nor care more, nor anything else other than perhaps jaded..I do admit that I am very disappointed with this rebuild and therefore the near term future of this team.
2nd - I did an evaluation of each player based on their Role on the team...so no, not using the same criteria for Nolan as for Jack...but rather say Nolan vs Larsson.
The detail is at the end...
But summary is this team is loaded with sub-par performance given the role expected of them..of course, in my eyes. It is truly alarming to me that the assembled players are this far below expected performance when this is the year they should be contending. Not new news for those who watch game in and game out...but the reality is that a couple of tweaks ain’t going to right this ship.
3rd - I did a little comparison shopping last night having gone to the Lightning - Blue Jackets game last night. Holy crap is there NIGHT AND DAY difference between what The Bolts put on the ice and this poop show the Sabres are putting out there.
Yes, Sabres are friggin boring Der Kaiser and their display of skill with respect to passing, acting the paass, getting in the right spot to be passed to is so incredibly different.
Sure, with the talent the Bolts have what would one expect to see ... and that is EXACTLY the point. Sabres are likely 4 - 5 higher-end players away from competing
- 2 top line snipers
- #1 and probably a #4 defender Risto and Scandella would be fine 2 & 3’s
- Starting Goalie
Welp, here it is, start throwing the eggse...
