Shame on me Sven has 11 points in 13 games and yet I am still not thrilled about him
- VANTEL

I feel the same way.

I like him, but he just doesn't grow on me.
Is it because he's streaky? or is it because Bo (and now Brock) seem to carry him??
I dunno.

i've always thought that him and Granny were interchangeable, and that if i needed to pick one, I'd take Granny.

But if he becomes really important to Bo and Brock, maybe that will change.
He's like the Morrison on the WCE.

I think the game would have been more exciting if Shorthouse and Garrett were doing the broadcast. Had to watch with the sound off because Randorf's attempt at play-by-play was so annoying.

Is there a less likeable Sportspage alumnus?

- YeOldTimer

he doesn't identify the players very well. there are better play by play guys out there.

You’re on to something there...😂

Back on topic. Marky played great & timely saves. The Buzz line was awesome & we held our own against a dynamic offensive team suns it up for me.

Hard to say about Sven til we see the PO’s & how he translates into scoring. Idk yet what my call on him is yet but he does keep us wanting more.

Another solid game by the Canucks. All those silly stats junkies (I'm looking at you, Codes) need to realize Gudbranson's importance to this team going forward.
- Slip and slap

My only knock on stats ppl is use the eye test 1st then apply the stats & not the other way around or why bother watching.

We had a one line show tonight. Gudbranson played his game. Doesnt really change how i feel about him lol. He is still our worst d man. In my own opinion.

People should use both, equally. Corsi and analytics just show what the eyes and a pen and paper cant process in real time. I never liked bieksa, ill never like gudbranson. Just my preference, too many people are bent out of shape about my dislike of him lol. Atleast donny can respect it lol

It's the same thing on here and every other site. People have favs and players they don't like. Then they wait for a player they like to have a good game or stretch of games and start pumping tires and do the opposite for players they dislike.

Rinse and repeat.

I used my eyes, he was ok at best. The sequence that lead to the second Pit goal, he and MDZ were bad

Ive had to post so many charts and articles because people get steamed at my distaste for him. I am not sure why. Gudbranson dropping his stick in the D zone forcing him to use his body for a big hit isnt going to suddenly change my opinion of him and his game

HAHa, loved that. The more important question I think is “who is a more effective d, Gudbranson or Steatcher”? Mikita?

I've liked Tanev and Hutton together. I know everyone looks good with Tanev, and Hutton isn't well liked around here but I think they have some good chemistry.

Yeah, they were pretty good. I thought Tanev actually looked human last night, couple bad turnovers in the D zone.

So, how do these get recorded? someone must use their eyes and a pen and paper to record these stats before they get processed.
I am fine with stats, but find them to be very subjective.

Shot attempts? Seems pretty straight forward. Scoring chances are subjective but that's why everyone who uses numbers prefers larger sample sizes.

These events that happen in real time can’t be put into perspective until they are compiled. A player who is on the ice for one shot against says nothing on its own. If that same player is on the ice for 300 shots against per 60 minutes played, and 0 shots for per 60 minutes played, well that is something else all together.

Yes That is straight forwardand isn't a very indicator. Some of the shots last night were hurried and very poor quality, as they new they were going to get taken out by a certain defenseman along the boards, the player flicked it towards the net.Approximately 14:30 remaining 1st period. So it becomes a negative, yet it was a positive play by the defenseman.

There's sites that show you where players take most of their shots on the ice and how often they score from those areas.

Same with dmen, there's charts that show how many shots they allow near the net or slot compared to long distance.

Half the people who write off stats don't even realize that it goes much deeper than corsi
