Im pretty big on Turris. I like it from nashvilles perspective. Colorado did decent with the picks ans prospects as they are rebuilding. Ottawa losing turris, the picks, for duchene i just dont know if they dramatically improved to be contenders or anything

They didnt really improve much. In ways they took a step back

Their futures not as important as their present, at least I'm guesssing that's what they think, thus the move. If you're of the opinion Duchene is that much better than Turris, their GM, then you make the move.

Duchene is going to be a UFA after next season and will want a hefty raise most likely(assuming he plays well in Ottawa) so I'm interested to see how this plays out.

Karlsson is a UFA after next season as well and he's gonna get paid a poop load of money.

The other thing that makes this good for ottawa is next season. IF Duchene won't re-sign or they don't want to re-sign him/having a bad year, He could get a lot at next years TDL.

True, I'm guessing they could get a 1st at least, but since Turris signed such a reasonable contract I still don't like it.

He makes 6 million dollars a year and he's put up 55 59 and 41 points the past three years, he's hardly inline for a "hefty raise".

true, but if they can't re-sign Duchene he can be traded for a huge return at TDL.

I was just able to drop Zacha to add Duchene in the pool

The entire reason they made the trade was that he's an offensive upgrade on Turris. If he puts up the 50-55 points Turris usually does then they lost the trade anyway since Turris is better defensively.

And if Duchene does prove to be a 60+ point type of center he'll definitely be asking for a raise.

Either way, they're gonna bite the bullet.

I guess Vantel's 'Turris dream' is dead.

If he puts up 70 points and gets a smallish raise (6.5 to 7 million) then he's well worth the price IMO. A lot of "ifs" there though.

On a side note, Sakic sure (frank)ed that team up! They were looking like they were heading in the right direction until they let Stastny walk and traded O'Reilly, all downhill from there.

I don't understand the hate for Turris, he's a good player, for the right price ($) and term he'd be a great fit plus he'd be free, well he would've. He'd allow the Canucks more time to draft and or develop a center to play top six.

You know, in the last ten full seasons only two players under the age of 30 (NOT NAMED SEDIN) have put up a 60 point or better season, Kesler twice and Burrows once.

Good God I hope Benning's drafting improves so he can fix that!!!

I think Bo and Boeser do it this year. EP looks like he will be a solid producer. What benning needs to find is a proper PMD for our future PP1.

Year's two and three have $850,000 in performance bonuses but I don't know or can't find out what they are.

Ottawa gave up TWO 1st round picks for a player who could generously maybe score 10 more points than the player they traded out.

HOLY F this is a brutal trade for Ottawa.

Horvat and Baerstchi together without Boeser seem average, with Boeser, it's like they're different players all together.

I was referring to Shane Bowers who is their 2017 1st round selection.

Still, they overpaid big time for a guy who's not a massive upgrade. I'd be pissed if I was a Sens fan.
