I don't give chiarelli the credit you do. His moves haven't been that great.
How he and Benning won a cup together gives me hope. š - RealityChecker
couple of geniuses right there. Chiarelli has a law degree, Benning has grade 11.
On a more serious note, the contracts given to Eberle and RNH really hurt the team long term. |

Do the nucks have the best management of Canadian teams? - Bettmanhatesus
Jury is out but if ppl listen to some here we will always have the worst. Imo we r better off than the Oilers Flames & Habs. Jets have a ton of talent but cannot get their crap together. The Leafs housecleaning & rebuild has it back on the tracks but lots left to do.. The Sens for a budget team have done well for a long time.
Iām fine with JB |

I haven't brought it up in months. I think we will be fine at center . Bo Sutter Burmistrov EP Gaudette and Gaunce can figure it out. |

Ryan Johansen makes 8 million dollars a year
Never a fan of David Poile....he's a boob, 20 years the GM of the Preds, four times to the second round and once past the second round....boob. - LeftCoaster
Thats for 2 reasons...1 they were an expansion team and needed to be built which takes years
2 they had pumpkin head for 17 years behind the bench.
Laviolette has done more in a few years than all the other years without him combined |

Laviolette has been fortunate to take over some really good teams, including now that Nashville is actually willing to spend money... |

I dont think the canes were a great team at all. Or philly either. He made them successful however.
Preds on the other hand he did get quite the framework. After the work he did with his previous teams he deserves a team like the preds. |

Are you (frank)ing kidding me? The Flyers were stacked in 2011 when he was there. They were third in the league with 106 points.
They scored 259 goals that year, only three less than the President Trophy winning Canucks at 262. |

Not great teams? Carolina won the Stanley Cup in his first full season there with an excellent roster, Philly went to the Cup finals after he took over 25 games into the season. His teams all get progressively worse after he arrives... just look at their point totals
Meanwhile, Trotz took a team with Jason Alison and Marek Zidlicky as his top scorers to the playoffs. He never had the depth like they have now |

Nashville as a franchise is making money and has a huge fanbase, that seems like a miracle in Tennessee to me. Honestly, Poile has really done well there IMO. Had to slowly build that base to afford players, played the long-game very well. |

i agree. at almost every turn, he has played the cards he was dealt very well. remember that the team 1) was an expansion franchise; 2) was almost relocated; and 3) has gone through ownership problems.
as you pointed out he has built the base (on and off the ice) to be in the position the team is now.
could it have been done quicker or better? sure, if we're talking "best case scenarios," but if i as a preds fan, i would value the stability more than anything. |

I think the best thing to ever happen to that franchise was having Jim Balsillie try to steal the team away to Ontario. It galvanized the fan base as they realized how close they were to losing the team. Of course, having a winning team helps as well... |

if you ask anyone, especially eklund, it was ek who saved that franchise. may have been the same weekend he turned shania twain down. |
