lol this (frank)ing team - feetontheair22
If it were possible, would u rather sign...
Tavares
Or
JvR + Carlson
Yes, I know that both scenarios are unlikely...
but I did a CapFriendly lineup with option #2

Just have no idea with what to do in net
(I’m pretty much done with Lehner) |

Mcdavid, Draisaitl, Klefbom, Talbot, nugent-hopkins... The eberle trade was brutal but i still figured they'd be in a playoff spot. - Sabresfan-365
I said they’d take a step back,
but not to this degree
Also thought Montreal would take a step back & the Leafs too |

I say we either trade Reinhart to Phoenix or somehow get Domi and Duclair here to complete that line. Worked for the world juniors a few years back.
Wasn’t Duclair on waivers a while back or in trouble with the coach. Then kane could be his role model.
On another note, sometimes a player is only good in a certain situation. Moulson and Okposo were big names until we got them. Likely, they were benefiting from playing with JT.
And I bet dollars to doughnuts that we have those scrubs on this team to entice JT here. - Da_Cashman
Okposo and Moulson are not going to entice Tavares to come to buffalo. |

I would have rather Offer Sheet’ed Kucherov or Draisaitl or somebody of that ilk coming up
Not as good as those two but good like a Mantha, or Montour, |

After the Tank, the failed Rebuild I admit that I’m jaded with this collection of players, especially the so called Core. I have hopes for the new GM and Coaching staff...that they will eventually right the ship.
That said, these quotes in BN don’t give me a good feeling however. The Sabres have a fragile psyche, so maybe the coach didn't want to pile on in public. ..."The guys love him," right wing Seth Griffith said. "He's been even keel, which keeps us levelheaded.”
I do agree this version of the Sabres team is very fragile. It has also been attached to other versions of the Sabres over several decades...seems the Peca/Dominator and then the Drury/Briere teams was the only versions in memory that was mentally tough and was therefore most successful.
I think Botts has to decide in whom that fragile psyche exists and root them out from the team going forward. It isn’t all about highly skilled players, many times the player who refuses to win despite lesser talent (to a degree) is the champion. Yes, of course skill is required ... now it gets down to a deeper level of compete within.

I highly doubt the Islanders let Tavares leave the Island. Unless he's 100% dead set on leaving (doesn't sound like it), they'll give him whatever he wants. |

Per Craig Rivet:
Everything has always come easy for Jack. Jack gets too frustrated when his teammates can just perform the way he can, and hasn't yet learned that it isn't always because they aren't trying, its because they just don't have that level of talent. With more maturity, he will come to appreciate this and be less judgmental and frustrated with his teammates.
there are plenty of fragile psyches on this team. There has to be more appreciation and leadership recognizing all of the contributions, and greater willingness to cut loose those who are not contributing despite their effort. |

So in this new world where Eichel takes a discounted $10M for 1 season at a PPG pace, what does JT get for the same over multiple seasons? Is it $10m or more? |

The biggest factor in JT apparently wanting to leave New York, imo was due to the lack of winning, why the hell does he leave the island to come here where we also cant win.
Good friends and relatives aside hes not getting any young, I doubt he wants to hitch his cart to our team for the next 7 years.
Id' love to get him but with the current state of the team, I cant see how it makes any sense for JT to sign here. |
