That's fair. from the the perspective of a rebuilding franchise, you got trade-raped. Not even close.

I'm not a hater of any of the teams involved and I hope it works out very well for them. Looks to me like the Preds took the least risk as far as knowing what they gave up and what they got. The Sens and Avs made a big boy trade and are gambling more on the results.

oh for sure, Avs gambled on a future package, but 6 bullets in the gun to get some impact players on the roster, thats limiting the risk

My guess is we will be competitive, Duchene was only getting roughly 16 minutes of ice time this season. With Compher slotted to return by this weekend and Jost now benefitting from top 6 ice time we could even improve. The players are trained to say the right things in interviews but we all know this was a massive distraction, these guys must be happy to finally be done with this and move on!

AJ from BSN mentioned some nuggets on twitter when asked about the rumours of the room

Saying a lot of the room being so volatile had to deal with Duchene, he asked for the trade in Christmas, was mailing it in while other guys were working their butt off trying not to be an embarrassment, apparently it did not sit well with a lot of guys and with Johnson hurt, he was stewing over this.

Why EJ has been so vocal about Duchene, not mincing words when asked about it.

That's a great trade if you look at it as your 4yr old would, 7 pennies for 1 quarter!

Kind of reminds me of the Bobby Ryan deal. The Sens gave up lots then as well. I don't think any of the picks/prospects ever amounted to anything. Silfverberg did alright as long as he is with Kesler, other than that, I think Ottawa did great on that deal.

Only time will tell if this deal works out the same way. I am excited to see Bobby Ryan with Duchene. Two of my favorite players playing with the best player in the game Karlsson is going to be fun to watch.

I heard it rumoured before that Sakic was offered Barzal, Hamonic and a first and turned it down. I really couldn't believe that rumour because that would have been a boatload to give up for Duchene. Happy the Islanders walked away from any Duchene talks as that really would have set back their future development

Ott was never comfortable with him as a #1 C. He was definitely one of the weaker 1C in the league and was rumored to be holding out for a 8 yr contract, which would start when he turned 29. Good for nashville to reduce his term to 6 years. This isn't his first tiff with management either, as OTT resurrected him from the yotes. Ottawa certainly has filled the 1C role with a younger, much more offensively capable player. That being said, they gave up alot to get him. Almost more pressure on Ott to move him than Col to move Douche. At least we can put all the rumors to rest.
