You wait until your confident you've developed that core from within, however long it takes.

Neither of us are in the lockroom, pretty documented in winnipeg, the whole track suit issue
Definitely saw the video of "guest bartender" fighting with bouncer
Can't be sure of the sexul assault but went there multiple occasions? Alegations?

Pretty sure he missed time with a shoulder injury when we traded for him. Broken ribs last year.

Not here, are you one of those people that never made mistakes? Or just one that hold onto it ? He had one issue while here.... and it not like it was big deal, he was late for one practice.... seriously people need to let it go...

Grigorenko. Darcy threw him to the wolves, realized his mistake then jerked the kid around for a bit and then threw him right back to the wolves. He needed to be in Rochester after Junior. He's the guy you wait for 2-3 years on.
- Wetbandit1

The Sabres also threw Brian Campbell to the wolves. Eventually, he figured it out. He probably could have done well to spend some time down in Rochester, but if you have it, you have it. It may take a while, but if you're actually good enough, both talent wise and mentally, you will find your game.

But THEN, u couldn’t say what our play would be like NOW

That’s hindsight

U keep avoiding the theory in my questioning

Why wait only 1 more year & not 2 then?
Or 3? Or 4?

What’s the reasoning YOU use to say when to stop trying to draft high, and start to trade for guys to help u win?

- jdfitz77

If we had 3 more Guhles in the pipeline, i would feed different

say instead of drafting cornel, karabacek and somewhere else

I understand all that. However, having the cap room makes that believable. Murray had no answers because all of the ammo he had was gone. He depleted the prospect pool and left them in only okay shape cap wise, but not enough to say "we're going to be a championship contender" with a straight face.
- buffalofan19

I honestly think if Rochester was decent, that would have saved his job

But if he didn't sign some experience , we would never make the cap min. and have a bunch of kids not ready. . What position are the ones drafted back then in now ?

It's a 50:50 crap shoot . We got the bad end of it . So all is on we should have waited .

It's like picking a GF.

DUDE...
you know I’ve said that over & over on here

McKeown, Dougherty & Montour all picked right after those terrible ‘14 draft picks

But that again leads me back to...
O’Reilly & Kane aren’t the issue
It’s the DEFENSE!!!

No one would’ve said TANK for 3 more years after we picked Jack...
including you

- jdfitz77

Correct, absolutely.
I’m just saying with 20/20 hindsight that those deals were in fact a year, maybe 2 early.
And now we go backin* to building through the draft.
Ok, then do it so that we have a Championship caliber team — (frank)ing tank fully, trade the players we signed and amass a stockpile of picks and execute it better then.

According to some with future hall of farmers in Bailey, Baptiste, Pu, Asplund, Mittelstadt, Guhle and others we have in the pipeline we should be able to weather the storm in the meantime.

I’m saying don’t middle it like the Bills for the past 17 years.

How is it that grigorenko was ruined? They played him in the nhl as a rookie? This always surfaces on the board. Broken record. I still do not understand how he is/was any different then other players. Should have he played in rochester? Yes probably. Would he be a good nhl center? Probably not. He had a shot with the avs too. Still on darcy? Maybe it was the player and his attitude and work ethic

They had enough "experience". Gionta, Gorges, and Moulson, as bad as they were/are, provided enough of that, even if they didn't contribute greatly on the ice.

You will get no argument there, but there was no chance that was going to happen. Botterill is all about managing the cap, and he's got more obstacles to work around than he should have.

If we hadn’t traded for O’Reilly & Kane,
Our ‘15-16 lineup would’ve looked something like this:

Ennis-Eichel-Reinhart
Moulson-Girgensons-Gionta
Larsson-Grigorenko-Armia
Foligno-Legwand-Deslauriers

Um...
I just don’t know why that would’ve been a good idea?
So we could get Dubois instead of Nylander...
I’d rather have Kane, O’Reilly & Nylander instead

***no, I don’t think we’d have outtanked the Leafs
But we would’ve finished worse than the 5th spot, which is where Winnipeg jumped up from to get Laine
So we’d have gotten a choice of Dubois, Puljujarvi or Tkachuk

- jdfitz77

Sure, then add

JT Compher
Colin White
Jack Roslovic
The 31st pick in 2015
Nikita Zadorov
Brendan Lemieux
Matt Tkachuk

It’s not close

1 year 2.5 to 3 mil does not hurt the sabres long term with the cap

esp if the plan was keeping skunk on the dot

Possible . But we thought this roster had enough balance with the talent we supposedly have . And yes it is there .

Just teams scoring more than we are , No speed like have seen they have and goaltending letting in the puck

whoa now

he's a 2nd line center on his best night

- BeadyEyedDouche

You clearly missed this. http://www.thehockeynews....es-it-take-to-win-the-cup ROR is a fantastic player. He puts up 55-60 points despite being on a team that can't score and despite starting in his zone way more often than not.

2 of the best defensive centers in the game:

Bergeron started in his O-zone 54% last year and 63% so far this year. 53 points last year. Toews 55% and 59%. 58 points last year.

and ROR: started in his O-zone 46% last year and 38% so far this year. 55 points last year. So despite playing in his end 10%+ more often than those guys he still puts up the same amount of points.

ROR is a pure defensively deployed center and still puts up a bunch of points on a team that can't score.

It also goes back to broads' original point. These moves were made to speed up the team's improvement, and the results have been less than minimal.

I've made plenty of mistakes, especially at his age. Difference is the sabres are not deciding whether or not to pay me 7 years 50 million.

What about the guest bartender, pulling hair on draft eve? A couple other "alegations" too. Who knows if they are true or not but it's a bad look for your business. A strugling fan oriented business. You have reduced it to being late for a work meeting ? All star weekend
