again with that list we should not be in the bottom 5
- homiedclown

It’s Hockey Heaven fo4 the players....sign big bucks, relax and take it easy for 5 years...fans love you.

I agree and have been banging this drum for 13 months now.
Gotta say enough of this poop show ...I don’t think we have to burn it to the ground, but a fairly sized controlled fire is in order.

Keep Jack, communicate effectively that at $925k he’s a steal...at $10M he is severely overpaid. Expectations change, to those who are given much, much is expected...Dominatne Jack, Dominate (period)

Keep Kane on a highly incentivized contract with major bonuses...plus and minuses there from manny angles

Keep ROR, Risto, Scandella, McCabe (I have hope)

Sell Beaulieu, Reinhart, Girgensons, Bailey, Baptiste, Lehner, Bogo in package deals.

Waive Molson, Gorges, Poiloiut, Tennyson - - Rochester should kick ass.

Call me, I’m happy to consult as needed.

I think I was close to alone on the "Murray sucks" train two years ago.

In all honesty though, who is mad we aren't contending for the cup right now?

Even in a normal rebuild, I would expect us just now to be pushing for the playoffs

- sbroads24

SBroads, I hated every minute of your constant murray bashing.
It was spot on though. I liked him a lot, he was refreshing. Ror and kane filled 2 top 6 spots with actual nhlers. I was all for the tank, which he played masterfully. At least we have eichel, that's all him.

Reasonable grades
I’d adjust a few, but I don’t think you’re far off on any particular assessment

- jdfitz77

with those grades they should have a winning record

Fair enough.
I’m hated on this board anyway, if I came out with a D for the top 6 or the core...holy hell it would be twelve pages of :

Before this latest blog, the mere mention of the team sucks and you are cast as a piss poor fan, lol.
Drink the cool-aid, we are gonna be good.

Disagree on Bailey & Baptiste
They’ve barely scratched the surface here
Not all good players come into the NHL & score 20 goals as rookies
WAY too soon to bail on them

Also disagree on Sam...
I don’t think we can get a “top pair” defenseman for him
If we can, then yeah, trade him
But I don’t see it happening
And I’m not trading Sam for a “Scandella”
We just showed you don’t have to give up that much to get a “top4” guy

A broken clock is right twice a day.

The Fasching trade had me scratching my head, but I liked it at the time
The Kane trade had me bonkers, but I still thought Murray was ok

The day of the 2015 draft, I was done. 1000% sure he was an awfully bad GM

"Top 4" on Buffalo is basically a top 6 on a good team.
How can we have 0 goals from our defense? I'm starting to worry about the entire d core?

Mccabe is maybe a top 4, probably bottom pair on a decent team and healthy scratch on a cup contender. I always liked him, but again foot speed is lacking.

McCabe might be the most dissapointing Sabre so far this year besides 21 or 23. But I expected 21 to have a bad start

I started questioning him with the McNabb/Fasching trade...
and then when he TOTALLY F’d up the 2nd round of the 2014 draft (passing TWICE on good defensive prospects, to REACH for forwards, and then chose Martin in the 3td round... ugh)...
that got me concerned

I liked the Kane & O’Reilly trades
still do in a sense, as I still like those 2 & think we got the best players in each deal (unquestionably)

Lehner trade I didn’t like, and now hate it
I’m about done with him as our long term starter

Overall...
I think it was the choices Murray made with the defense that killed us during his time, and is still our biggest issue now

I’ve been a big McCabe supporter from day 1, so I’ll admit I’m probably biased when I evaluate him

I’ll just say this though
Obviously I’d want him to be more consistent by now, but it often takes defensemen a while to grow into a good player u can depend on
Remember how much ppl used to criticize Brian Campbell?

Like I said, I might be biased here...
but I still think he can be a good 4/5 guy for us at least

which move. ROR?

I gave him the benefit of the doubt most of the way through. It was the kulikov trade and one win a month thing that did it for me

Im bigger on him than most, when he isn't stuck with tennyson and gorges his zone exits/entries are the best on the team.

I thought McCabe would thrive w Houseley and thought he’d reach a level of development that he would be good no matter who the coach is.

He has been weak tea.

At least he's cost controlled and sorta young. Plays with heart. He's playing above or around a 2nd round pick. Of course draft postion doesn't matter or something like that. Still super disappointing start, especially with the housley is familiar with him, captain bs ect.

I agree with you on 23 and 21.

I feel bad for kyle, he's the type of guy you really want to succeed. He's a great dude off the ice, but he might be damaged at this point. Need for speed

23 needs to find a role. Maybe it is pp net front presence. Seams odd for a guy drafted for creativity.

ROR and Lehner.

I like ROR, he's a very good player.

I thought letting guys develope and being at the bottom an additional year was a must.

We also don't know what the mandate from ownership was. He obviously agreed with Murray, or he wouldn't have hired him, but whose idea was it?

Jd, Its nice to be civil. Mccabe has been a favorite of mine. You wonder if he's hurt, confused with the system or just sick of losing?

there's a difference between around him and through him. He's not good defensively period. But hes better than most of the guys on the current roster. and he moves the puck significantly better.
