Like Makita said I expected that same result as last night much more often but don't worry Tavares and Gagner are best friends Benning is a genius . - VANTEL
To me they are showing the true signs of being a "tweener" team, they are winning games they probably shouldnt (WASH, PIT) and losing games they should probably win (NJ, DET)
Missed the good part of the 3rd, but the post game comments from players summarize my thoughts on the game, sloppy. Saw some tweets blaming the ice, which was bad, but it was rare they made a pass remotely close to the tape in the first 2 periods, really sloppy |

This was talked about...where we will outplay teams we shouldn't and also find ways to lose vs teams we should beat (like last night).
Quick question though...why was Hutton on the ice with Tanev in the last few minutes? Would it no be wiser to have MDZ out there with Tanev as MDZ is a tad better defensively?

I really wanted to blame Hutton for that goal, but after seeing the replay he was on his man and lost him after getting tangled and falling. I think through experience he will learn how to better recover in those situations, getting a piece of the puck is worse than getting none of it IMO |

The only mistakes that should be talked about in length are the ones that turn into a goal against. Doesn't matter if Guddy and MDZ struggled to get the puck out, Tanev and Hutton were the 2 worst defensemen as they were directly responsible(by scoring them) for 2 of Detroits goals. Inc the game winner. |

By this same token, only plays which directly lead to a goal for should be talked about, meaning all the “good work” and “being tough to play against” counts for nothing. |

It was hard not to blame Hutton on that one, he looked the worst chasing down the goal scorer, taking a couple looks at it shows you it was more unfortunate than his fault. But youre right, most often its the failure to get the puck out, guy getting trapped deep, or losing their check that starts the situation leading to a goal |

4) The Del Zotto - Gudbranson pairing has been getting eaten alive this season. In 128 minutes together at 5v5, the Canucks are controlling an abysmal 39% of the shot attempts and 34.6%(!!!) of the chances. Glen Gulutzan should use last change to his advantage and get the top line out against that pairing every chance he gets. It's a huge mismatch.

I seen on Twitter last night all the hate for Sutter . His line shuts down the other teams top line and up to last night Canucks had the fewest goals against n the entire league. A lot of people miss that stat.
We have paid close to 1/3 of our salary cap to 3 players that have produced 4 goals combined in 13 games. There lies the biggest issue. It will be fixed next year and we will see changes . It may be ugly at first but it needs to happen - VANTEL
The Sutter line got ripped on by the analytics community for their terrible possession numbers last night... but the poor guys only had 3 offensive zone starts last night (11 dzone starts, 3 neutral zone). |

or the dreaded, failed to finish at one end, the puck comes back and finds the back of your own net.
Hutton, to me, looks better this year than last.
I'm enjoying the games of late.
was a little worried last night after Detroit scored first but the Canucks kept pressing.

actually the team is playing well for the most part. 4 decent lines, the twins still get too much ice time. |

I never said other things shouldn't be talked about. But people are talking in length about Gudbrandsons turn overs when it was two massive mistakes by Tanev and Hutton that cost us the game. Nobody talks about that, Guddy made a few mistakes, but they did not cost us them game so why focus on that as the reason why we lost. |

Fair enough...but still...questioning why Hutton was out there in that situation in the first place. |
