Daniel could sit IMO & yes prolly another injury will occur.

Green is not going to bench the Sedins lol. And yeah, they weren't effective against Pit and are slow as hell now but you guys have quickly forgotten that they were our best line against NJ when the Horvat line struggled.

Trade him then.

I'm sceptical about Shannon, he's about as reliable as Dreger.

Yeah, I just hope he doesn't change his mind if the Canucks are in the playoff race in February. Can't just let him walk for nothing after trading McCann and a 2nd for him.

I could definitely see Ottawa going after him if they can move Phaneuf, plus Tallon still loves him too. He'll get his offers for sure.

Doesn't matter. Smoke/fire. IMO, trade him now. Who's going to pay big for a guy who will only play 20 regular season games and maybe a long playoff run?

I would believe a team would want more out of Guddy than the above if they were to give up anything significant.

Ottawa's going for it. Talked about it on Hockey Central. That would be great but what do they got after the Avs/Preds deal?

The problem is that sometimes teams aren't interested in trading for a potential rental player this early just in case they fall out of the playoff picture. You're right that he'd have more value to a buyer now, but there may be less buyers since GM's of bubble teams would probably be gun shy to make that type of move right now.

Maybe a team gives up what we want if there is a sign and trade.

This would be the ideal scenario, hopefully he's open to that.

Sign him, then trade him. Like Nashville did with Turris.

Then you'll get some value as long as he continues to play well.

JB's contracts up after this season, he can't afford anymore gaffes.

Do you need the contract room to do sign and trades?

If he's set on hitting the open market then JB's hands are tied and it's going to be a bidding war for a rental player.

Thankfully he doesn't have a NTC so I think he'll get back a decent return even as a pending UFA.

You need contract room when you trade for a player, unless you send a contract back. That's why some players who clear waivers end up getting traded for another player after clearing. Whether or not the player is a pending UFA is irrelevant.

If you're at less than 50 contracts then you can claim and trade for whoever you want without having to get rid of a contracted player.

There has been a bit of talk about Guddy's intentions at season's end. Shannon's not the first. If you can't re-sign and you know that he's going to walk then adios amigos!

Someone will pay at the deadline but you ain't going to get a haul in his current contract situation.

I'm all for that idea. It's not like Hank has been a difference maker so far. No slight against Hank but taking a night off here or there for the greater good of the team is ok.
- Itsjustarash

I suggested the second half of back-to-back, as it is what many teams do with older players and is what Detroit does with Zetterberg.
It is not a slight against Henrik or Daniel for that matter, it allows them to be fresher throughout the season.
