What is he making now? $3.5MM?? probably something similar. He will get more on the open market so I anticipate he is traded.

We just entered November and Guddy is on the trade block

The other risk with waiting until the TDL is that he gets injured. He does play physical and gets into fights and had wrist surgery last year + a concussion in Florida.

Lots of variables here.

I suggested the second half of back-to-back, as it is what many teams do with older players and is what Detroit does with Zetterberg.
It is not a slight against Henrik or Daniel for that matter, it allows them to be fresher throughout the season.

Zetterberg played 82 games each of the last two years and has played 15 games this year. Which games has he sat out?

He hasn't been healthy scratched. Hockey teams don't do that.

I 100% agree with giving them 4th line minutes during back to back games and at the end of long road trips

Even in regular games their 5v5 minutes should be 3rd line minutes at this point.

Hank and Danny are not defensive liabilities. Until they are, no consideration of scratching them.

To me, the connection to Zetterberg is moot. Look at how Yzerman changed in his final year(s) to a checking role or a fourth line offensive role.

Agree as long as no giveaways in the O zone or the hooking/slash penalties. They control those factors & its all good.

Seems you like to overlook the bias and support slanted measurements that don't apply to what Guddy's game is about. But then again you keep repeating recovering a 4th round pick with trading Guddy so guess that article validates your opinion.

i like Gudbranson, and value what he brings to this team.
i've been impressed with his play this year and want to sign him longer term.

In saying that, i'd trade him for the right deal of course (especially if he indicates he does not want to sign here).

He'd be a great fit in Toronto imo.
Trade him for a 1st and a prospect.

How much would you be willing to pay him long term for those intangibles?

I'm guessing he wants 5 or 6 years knowing that he'll probably get it as a UFA

yeah, maybe.
I was thinking he'd wanna be UFA at 29 and sign a big ol Mathias Ohlund sunset contract then.

I think guys who have missed a big chunk of games at some point in their career are less likely to think that way. Probably prefer longer term just in case

No matter when you trade him JB wont be able to get the value this fan base wants.

$5m for 5/6yrs is max for me.
The the trade/walk away/sign order is plausible & fans seeing an asset leave for nothing will rail against that. IMO the cap space & the opportunity for a prospect to win is wise cap management. As of now we look good on that front & as we have many prospects in the pipeline for a change in maybe 2yrs there will be opportunity for the new wave to step in. After its highly probable a logjam for prospects could occur & why continual trades will happen for us. Its all fluid in the end & especially so if the rebuild makes us a consistent PO team.

True but what is value to our fan base?
Those who use the cost to get him will most likely be the unsatified bunch no matter what. Say we ignore the cost of getting him & discuss what do we want back? To do that we target teams who need him so who r those teams?
