I am hearing devils and vegas
if we took a bad short term contract, nucks
but botts is getting flooded with calls for Kane, 7 or 8 teams daily
the birds have been silent the past few weeks, but chirps are starting to creep in the air - homiedclown
If the Devils stay near or at the top I can definitely see that. I'm not surprised about Kane at all. Thanks for this Homie, always appreciated. |

What's up with McCabe?
Has been a dumpster fire this year, then out of nowhere was probably our best defender yesterday outside of Scandella. |

They removed tennyson from the equation. His worst games have all been when he was paired with him or Gorges. |

Who the hell is taking on Okposo's contract? - sbroads24
From homiedclown earlier
Interesting, but wonder who would entertain the salary given his current production. Tbh, I'd keep Kane over Okposo even though he has started looking better again. Kane was always the more talented player, just a hot head. If we can move Okposo that frees up needed space for a defenseman. Hope your bird is right...and successful.

True, I forget he doesn't get time with Risto or Scandella. Still, yesterday was promising. Nothing much in the pipeline, so we need him to be a serviceable NHL defender. Was beginning to wonder if I was wrong about him. |

If it's easy to trade a bloated contract , why is moulson and bogo still here? It happens, but rarely |

Funny how a year changes things. There's no chance of re-signing Kane to a sensible term or a reasonable salary. I can't see Bots or the Pegulas signing off on a 7+ year deal. Given what's happened with Bills recently, I just can't imagine them taking this kind of risk. Kyle's value is close to an all time low, Kane is near an all-time high. How does this team not sell high here? |

I agree 100%. The pegulas have to love what the bills have dumped. Head aches and negative press |

don't let that fool you if keeping kane is the best thing for the Sabres (GMJB wants to keep him) they will (history has shown they will pay whatever it takes good or bad)

Take a step back, I think it's clear that Pegula is now trying avoid these types of risky quick fix moves, and repair the damage from them. Comparing Kane to Dareus might be a step too far, but there's a ton of similarity to Watkins. It's hard to ignore. |

They like Bogosian.
Moulson will be taken by a team needing to get to the cap floor, especially after the Sabres pay his roster bonus next summer.
Okposo provides more than both of those guys combined. He's not worthless, just not worth a 7 year contract. |

I hope they keep kane . Unfortunately he's gone. Pegulas paying jbotts, they are involved. A decision this big includes ownership. |

I don't disagree with you but I also think its based on what the current GM wants... he not going to freely hand out money to anyone but if the current GM / Coach want to keep him money wont be an issue, and I would say that is the correct way to handle it... otherwise he turns into Ralph / Golisano and we start loosing people that could've helped. (think Drury, washington, peters, and the short corner that went to the vikings... name escapes me edit---- (Winfield) etc) |

I would respectfully disagree with this. I agree that the Dareus comparison is off, but would also say the Watkins analogy is overly critical. Watkins talked about wanting the ball more, was super injury prone and took lots of plays off. Kane doesn't complain to the media and plays balls to the wall every game. Has their been some injury concerns? Yes, but not even close to the severity of Sammy.
This isn't a resign or not argument, just nitpicking. |

Fair points on Sammy. I still see a ton of similarity with the caliber of player and contract situation. The bigger issue is that he's been a source of embarrassment to the Pegulas. Terry has been very patient and free spending, but he's reacted strongly whenever he's been embarrassed. If GMTM is still here, this deal is done. Now, I see an organization moving in the exact opposite direction.
Flip side here, what is Kane's agent asking? 8x8? Whatever it is, I'm certain it's longer and higher than I'd agree to. |

Certainly there are some similarities, both players have the ability/raw talent to be super stars, but have a little too much saw dust in between the ears. I get it there, but I think when it comes to a contract, Sammy's behavior made the idea of an extension a moot point. Kane leaves the possibility open. |

They can have him! Payback for Hodgson!!! - Da_Cashman
This is not me saying Hodgson was good, but how many times did Kassian lead the Canucks in points?
We easily won that trade. People forget that Sulzer actually played for us and wasn't an anchor, he was a positive(barely) relative player for us in 57 games. Gragnani played a whopping 14 games for Vancouver and 19 total after Buffalo. |

Niether the Canucks or Sabres got a single important game out of Kassian or Hodgson. IMO it’s a wash |

Hodgson won the trade he's still getting paid.
Not sure about the sabres easily winning it.
Kassian could still get his name on the cup. Western conference finals last year right?
Pretty sure cody's chances of winning the cup sailed a few years ago.
We probably did "beat" Vancouver in the trade, but player wise, pretty even
