Yes maybe I have, but I try to have a conversation explaining why I have the opinions that I have, and then there is certain individuals that seem to have issues with me “as a ref” articulating my views.

I’m not a fan of Stecher, I believe he is a liability, but some of you guys get upset because you like the guy, top D scorer last year. That’s great, good for Stecher, good for you as his fan.

- Makita

I dunno who's getting upset, but for me, i like Gudbranson and what he adds to this team.

My pecking order goes like this

Tanev
Edler
MDZ
Gudbranson
Stetcher
Hutton
Pouliot
Biega
Weircoch

Hutton has quickly become my least fave Canuck D this year.
I'm not sure why he is escaping the wrath so far, or even why coach Green is playing him so much, but i personally notice his mistakes regularly and don't see him punishing the opposition to make up for it.

I think Hutton plays more because Pouliot still needs to be sheltered a bit so he can develop. Once Edler is back Hutton likely see's less ice time.

I don't like or dislike anyone. To me everyone is a value to the team. I don't rate players on a good or bad basis. They have a positional value. Every team has 6 D play every night. On this team he's probably a 6.

I don't know many teams that if a player avgs over 20 points a season on D would be in the AHL. Just sayin.

I like EG and don't mind if he gets extended. A couple of things to be concerned about are

1) The cap hit

2 ) The style of the game

3) The prospects might not need protecting if guys like Lind Gadjovich MacEwen ? can handle themselves and be big hitters

4)If EG wants to stay here?

I like his style and hope Bennings extend him for a good price, I am not sure that is the same feeling for Benning

- VANTEL

I think trade him. he will not be worth the cap hit he wants at this time. i would bet that, unless he has an amazing playoffs on a contender, he hits UFA and is a later signing for a lower amount because he will want too much and teams won't pay him.
He could probably get us around a 1st in value.

I think your list is correct . Canucks are 8-5-2 sitting ninth over all with sixth fewest goals against in the league. I doubt they are looking to change up a lot.

Maybe next year OJ makes the team and Weirchioch goes somewhere else and we draft a Dman that will replace another. I think Benning and his bosses like what they see.

In a league that values scoring so much. Hard to put a value on a player for the intangibles.

I am okay with a 4 mil contract I start losing interest when it gets up to 5 . I personally think he will be moved

Idealy we see this when edler gets back

Edler/Tanev
Hutton/Zotto
Poiliot/EG

I would hope that unless a D gets injured, EG is traded by the time Stetcher gets back. Pouliot seems like the odd man out in that situation, and he has earned the right to stay in the lineup i think.

You guys are crazy if you haven't noticed Hutton's improvement. Kids been really good.... although Tanav usually has that effect.

Green is playing Hutton almost 23 mins a night so it seems that he agrees.

With Biega providing a lower level of what Tanev/Huddy/Edler/Zotto bring, hard to say no to the points Stetcher brings. We only have 3 defensement that can puut up 20+ points(maybe Edler if he stops shooting into shin pads, guy needs to learn wrist shot over slap shot, and quick releases)

Fun game!

Pouliot

Stecher
Hutton

That being said, Hutton has logged a lot of minutes this year, and made some good and sloppy play, which is probably emblematic of that.

Pouliot/Gudbranson are pretty equal on strengths, as are Stretcher/Hutton.

I do think there's some natural bias that we have when we watch dmen play, more so than forwards.

Hutton or Stecher might try an extra move or a risky pass out of their zone that gets intercepted by an opponent at the blue line or neutral zone. Gudbranson or Biega might try to chip it off the boards and it gets held in by an opponent.

Both plays result in a turnover and getting stuck in your own zone, but the optics of the first one look bad.

Pouliot has been starting to show why he was an 8OA. once he gets more comfortable and confident, i think we will see a solid defender with top 4 potential.

What are the timelines on Stecher, I like the pairings above, would rather have Pouliot over Stecher or Biega

Agreed. Said something similar yesterday. He has some Tanev tendencies, like staying calm under pressure, obviously with more offensive talent though.
Still early, so I will keep my hopes in check.
