I wonder what a trade for Kane would look like, Guddy+Sven for kane+2nd.
Or a 3way
But gets Demers
Flag gets Guddy
Van gets kane |

My son was the good that came from marriage 2, that memory was the good from wife 1.

Just finished the OHL vs Russia game. I am really glad that JB picked Lind over Hague. Hague got beat wide a few times. Looked like the not good version of Gudbranson out there. - manvanfan

It's rather funny listening to some fans almost in a state of panic last night
It's like people actually thought we were a contender and are in shock we got outplayed last night.
Why are everyones expectations so damn high suddenly when this team had zero expectations coming into the season.

I think it would be a move for the future. Have to think what this team looks like without vanek, sedins, burmi, gudbranson next year. My god it makes me happy to think of this |

Seeing eye tests and fancy stat material - Codes1087
Alright, I'll do this before anyone else does
But they only picked out the bad parts of the eye test? I can do that with any player and make him look like poop. |

Im open for this discussion. What are the positive eye tests that gudbranson passes. And of those, where does he exceed past the average shutdown defender? |

You already have me beat, I just think he's an average defensive dman, not a shutdown guy because you can't trust him against faster forwards with skill in today's game.

I dont like what gudbranson brings, but i can understand and appreciate why a GM would want him. Having said that, gudbranson thinks hes a top 4 d on any team in this league and he really isnt. My issue is gudbranson will want top 4 money and wont deserve it. I would rather trade and fill with a more reliable and cheaper alternative. Pouliout is already leaps and bounds ahead of him imo |

I liked this quote from the CA article. a lot in it, might sum up the eye test for many in the analytical community.
But guys who crash and bang? Who get into a fight? Who throw themselves in front of harm’s way with abandon? They are memorable. So at the bottom end of the roster the way to survive isn’t necessarily to be useful, it’s be noticeable.
some truth to it. but if you are on a shtty team without anyone crashing and banging or standing up for teammates, and still losing and getting pushed around, that will be noticeable too.
maybe I'm a bit old school when it comes to what I like in hockey. I like the hitting and physical play. yet I hate seeing guys get concussions. the heart guys are often what gives a team confidence.
when we haven't had those heart guys in the lineup and played teams from Cali, we never had a chance. |

Yeah, I actually like Gudbranson, but just not as a top 4 dman. To me he'd be a nice #5 dman to have that can play top 4 mins in short spurts when injuries occur or if the whistles get put away randomly(seems to be happening less and less, the West style of hockey is turning into more of a speed/skill game now too).
Even Don isn't willing to give him a hefty raise on his current salary and he's one of his bigger fans on this site. Paying Gudbranson top 4 dman money is a mistake, the highest I'd pay for a guy like him is around 3M-ish he's making now.
And Benning had this quote during the pre-season, another possible clue that Gudbranson could get traded during this season:
