Leaving in the morning to go down to Miami for the weekend. Got a couple college buds coming down from the Chicago area with me so should be a wild time. If only the Sabres were playing the Panthers in Florida tomorrow it would be a perfect weekend. Screw the U - doppelthat

fedun and falk should play of tenny
antipin has shown a few things but he makes some pretty bad plays. - IndianaSabresFan
Agreed on Fedun and Falk.
Antipin, not surprising he's struggled a little bit (first 10 game in NHL and the language barrier) but the last couple games have been much better. his +/- is -1

I wonder if they are contractually prohibited from sending him to the A, or maybe they don’t have any Kazak speakers at all here in Roc.
Seems like a little time with the Amerks could help his game develop. He shows potential, and I think he took a big step forward after a few games in the pressbox to watch the game from upstairs. |

He has a clause in his contract that allows him to go back to the KHL if he is sent to the AHL.
Doubt they go that route. |

ND looks good this year. I was definitely not expecting it this year but this team seems more physical compared to years past. In the past ND very rarely passed the eye test, they always played down to opponents but this year they are rolling over people. ND seems to lay an egg when it matters most but I am cautiously optimistic about this team to win out.
I never quite understood the whole "Catholics vs Convicts" thing...most players on ND aren't Catholic |

Anyone listening to the instigators? Craig Rivet is taking credit for the Sabres retaining Matt Ellis |

I have seen Sam Bennett's name pop up a few times as a possible trade candidate. Seems to be struggling in Calgary. Would a trade straight up Sam for Sam be a realistic fair trade for both teams? I think Sam B is a bigger player that shoots lefty and also plays LW which could help our LW depth.
A second player I saw mentioned as a trade possibility is Jack Johnson. Cbus is looking for some forward help and Johnson will be a UFA at the end of the season. Is there a reasonable trade we could work out with them to bring him in. I always liked Jack and even though he is a bit older, he could help us now. |

Going to break it down to two different things here
A Sam for Sam swap makes no sense. Bennett has 0 points...0. You don't make that trade, if Reinhart is being traded it is not for another under performing player from the same draft year. If Reinhart gets moved its for blue line help.
Jack Johnson the player interests me a little, however his contract status changes that interest to eh. Why give up assets for a player who is going to walk at the end of the year? |

Bennett is playing on the 3rd line in a shutdown role now getting about 13 minutes a night. I think he needs a change of scenery and he could still develop into a good player. He and Reinhart both could benefit from the change and I don't think either could be traded at this point to get the D help we would be looking to get. Possibly Trouba could be available if his contract situation appears like it is going to be an issue again.
I am not talking about giving up a lot for Jack Johnson either, however Cbus might be interested in someone we have that they would be willing to deal for. No Blockbuster deal, but if they wanted something like Larson and a 3rd for Jack I would do it. If we don't think we will resign him he would be a huge asset at the trade deadline.
Also, Bennett has 1 point. |

Bennett also has the same struggle as Reinhart at center. Like any other high pick, he'd be an interesting reclamation project but, I don't he gets moved until the summer. At that point either the bottom has fallen out on Bennett and he'll get picked up for scraps, or he'll figure it out. Reinhart probably has more perceived value around the league than Bennett right now, so a straight swap wouldn't make too much sense. If they wanted a 3rd line center to replace Bennett, how bout girgs and a 3rd? |

Dreger - the #Sabres are far from over the hump, they need to get something rolling here.

Dreger - Maybe the Duchene trade has sparked activity around the NHL. Maybe the time is now to move Evander Kane, but the sense I get from the #Sabres is that now is not the time.

Dreger - I have not come across a team yet that would be willing to give Evander Kane a max-term contract (7-years) if he goes to unrestricted free agency. Things could change around the NHL if he continues to play the way he does and stay out of trouble. #Sabres |
