I get the feeling that Kane would be more than open to signing with Buffalo. Just not sure if they will be able to come to an agreement on price. Maybe another gm offers Botterill a deal that is so good he can't pass it up. I could also see a team like Vegas or AZ offering him a crazy big contract. |

I know. Palmieri produces more.
I have 0 issues with Kane being on this team right now. He seems to have got his head on straight and is well liked by his teammates. (which was not the case two years ago) He's also a pretty damn good player lately, which also wasn't the case his first year here.
The problem is he's getting severely over rated by many. He's a one-dimensional goal scorer. He plays his own game. When he's off, or not playing well, he hurts his linemates. Which shouldn't be the case for a winger.
IMO, he should be on another line than Eichel. He should be on a line who's job it is to shoot the puck and crash the net. |

He also hits and fights.
As for being with Eichel, I said the same thing, but 15p in 15 gp for him, and 14p in 15gp for Eichel is hard to argue with |

Which he politely declines and we dodge the Drew Stafford bullet - sbroads24
Definitely kane is playing well. I can't see botts giving him what he wants. Term or $. This is his opportunity to cash in.

Fighting I would agree with, except that everyone on the ice knows that if they take liberties with Eichel, Kane will feed them their lunch.
Hitting is a huge part of winning a playoff series by wearing the D down. I'm putting the cart before the horse on that one, admittedly |

No he's not, because that's exactly what we think he is and exactly what we want and need from him.
Sometimes good players just play their role good. And Kane does.
Kane > Okposo > Moulson > All our other wingers
It's really easy to dump him for assets, but you get him to sign for 5 years at 6 million and manage to dump Moulson then we come out on top. |

Hitting is how Kane gets the puck though. He manhandles the opposition into turnovers |

He has been, I agree.
Let's just look at the facts though, we have had him, playing well for the past two years, while we've still been a bottom 10 team.
At some point we need to find top level D men.
I'm all for trading Sam, and trying to keep Kane if it's a 3-4 year deal. But I doubt he takes something like that.
He's a big dude, physical, takes a beating, and has some injury history. He's not going to last until he's 34-35 at a high level.
We have a window with Eichel for the next 10-12 years of prime for a superstar, we don't need to add another long term contract right now, unless it's for a D man |

I'm not sure you trade away one of your only scorers for a defenseman. They off-set each other and we aren't getting a top-2 guy for Kane or the picks we would get for him.
Reinhart, Okposo, ROR should be traded for D help first, IMO.
ROR looks like he's not going to last until his early 30's either, starting to look like the Hunchback of Notre Edmonton, Milan Lucic.

Oh, no, he's a one dimensional player who just puts the puck in the net? He has things this team desperately needs. And since everyone is female dogging about Cup contenders, he is the epitome of a playoff performer. You lose him now, you're never getting him back.
I'd go 5 years $32.5M. If that can't get it done ship him off for the best defenseman you can get. |
