Yeah he clipped Yandle a bit. If it happened to us I'd be mad there was no penalty, but probably wouldn't expect a suspension...so good job on the DPS this time for once.

Just saw a clip of it. Looks like he got a shot into his chin (giggity).

I'm not going to act like I have a completely reliable source, but:

NJ called jbotts - inquiring about Kane
Buffalo sent scouts to nj for the home game vs. Edmonton on the 9th.
Damon severson played over 20 minutes and 3 plus on the powerplay.
This was coming off a healthy scratch
Yes he signed a new 5 year deal in September
Butcher has played well above expectations

Anyone "adding" kane will need to trade back salary in a "real hockey" trade.
Damon is above 4 million per
We need a power play type, hard shooting, puck carrying defenseman for our coach to work with.
Cost controlled and under contract # 3 or 4 d.

We need a cost controlled /under contract 3 or 4 D . Plays the power play and young enough to be molded by phil.
Swap of picks

How do we feel about this? Who adds and what?

- Boss34

Devils add a tad, maybe a d prospect like borgen IMO if they want Kane now

Devils are calling daily on Kane from what I am told as well as a few other teams

Botts is in a corner as he wants to keep Kane but knows he has to move a contract to justify a long term deal for him

As the season slips away, the odds of Kane getting moved before the winter freeze will increase by the hour, not the trade deadline

Also heard : again take it with a grain of salt:

Jbotts /sabres tried to trade up to 5 in the draft / with Vancouver.
Vancouver asked for reinhart, then evan Rodriguez / b prospect
Jbotts said no,
We were moving up to take casey middlestat.
Jim benning will need to "pony up" to trade with the sabres

- Boss34

this was on the canucks draft video too.

it just doesnt seem like an nhl move. guy signs a long term deal then gets dealt a few months later? for a guy who is a pending free agent?

Was wondering, who was the only person on this board who wanted the Sabres to draft Mittelstadt? I can't remember, I believe they said just draft Mittelstadt and call it a night. Can someone go back to the archive? Asking for a friend. You're welcome Hockey Buzz

Time to start back tracking. Risto is a #1 D. Did you see him clear the puck? Wait, no he isn't. He is horrible.

What about a NJ trade involving McLeod? With Hischer, Zacha, and Herrique down the middle, NJ might be willing to part with him for a scoring winger.

my guess, and it's a guess

if we are keeping ror on the dot, we need defense, more defense, left wingers, goalie prospects and more defense

Agreed that we need the defense, but I was thinking eventually we could move Mcleod to wing, I obviously want to get back the best quality for Kane. Not that it would happen, but I would put a RoR Reinhart deal on the table for an extended JT, see if that starts a conversation. We'll be a top 5 pick this draft and should be going defense, we should also sell our UFAs for nothing but defense prospects, hope we can find a gem that's not too far away.

How about NJ's 1st (2018), Blackwood, and Santini for Kane. It might seem like a lot, but after what Duchene brought back, I think it can be done.

Yeah, popped his brain bucket off in the process. Just didn't seem that the head was principal point of contact. No suspension, so yes, very much giggity.

In all fairness, I think there were a number of folks, including myself, saying the same thing. His 5v5 scoring wasn't up to par and he hadn't played a lot of competitive hockey, only that half season in the USHL or whatever.

I'll admit I was wrong 100%. Just think there were some justifiable reasons for griping at the time.

I stand by not wanting mittelstadt or Rasmussen at 8. Their production didn't warrant a top 10 pick. if it works out that awesome, until they play an nhl game its kinda hard to make that claim either way.

Ristolainen i was wrong about, i admit that. I still think he can play on the top pair but his role needs to be adjusted.

No in fact through 9 games hes put up something like 8 5v5 points so its encouraging. but on draft day he had numbers that were in line with guys taken mid first round. Owen Tippet still on the board and Evander Kane one foot out the door.

Gotcha, same here. Didn't like the pick at the time, but have liked what I've seen since. Makes perfect sense to me. And Risto will have a late growth spurt like Hedman to become that top pairing guy we need, I still have faith.

GMJB goes skilled, fast, low priority on size. Not sure Marcus Foligno is going to be here long.

Hedman turned the corner at 23

Risto needs to start steering
