Usually, hockey strategy says a road team fights for lead in 3d and shuts it down and hangs on.

The strength of this team is the offense. We were up 2 and choked it up. We went ahead but choked it up. We went ahead again, but choked it up. We win by going ahead, not by shutting it down.

Also, the mental fragility of this team is well known. Instead of coaching them in a way that showed confidence in them, he coached in a way that showed a lack of confidence.

Housely used general hockey strategy, but not the best strategy for HIS team in this game.

It is a strategy used throughout sports, would be interesting if there were stats on the effectiveness of it.

When considering the most effective strategy one must consider not only your team, but also the opponent that night/day.

It stuns me that coaches would change the effective style that got them into a winning position to begin with.

As was said, learning opportunity.

We are last in the Eastern Conference.

Florida, though tied, is ahead because of their win over the sabres.

It's a mess.

Some positive's from last night, Sam had 3 points, Eichel was the best player on the Sabres and played with some attitude , and the power play showed up!!!

Good to see Eichel step-up his game and deliver what is expected of a generational talent. I think last night proved my points that has roundly been laughed at here...play with passion, drive the net, play 200 foot game....and the production will reveal itself...especially with a finisher like Kane on your wing to bury opportunities...fail to see how that limits Jack rather than increasing his productivity, but eh, makes the world go around.

I still think he needs to be coached up, but maybe last night was evidence of that happening.

Glad to see Sam produce offensively, keep him on Jack’s wing and let those points and trade value build!

He has been better than Larsson, but that's not enough IMO. Last night he was pulling up on checks and doing his usual falling down routine. He's underperforming drastically. This team needs new players on the bottom 6
