Being a comic book nerd I love seeing the movies come to real life but I know they’re not exactly like the comic book but it’s still pretty nice to see

I understand the development point of view but right now you need a defenseman that could maybe make an impact in the lineup and put a fire underneath their ass

You can't have it both ways.

Botterill will bring up the success of Guentzel any time Guhle is brought up.

Guhle could be with the big club after the Christmas break.

I think it's odd when someone continuously throws fitz about us not drafting defense, yet doesn't want one that produces like Shattenkirk does

Because he sucks at defense
And his Corsi stats are skewed bc he gets so much more offensive zone time than defensive zone time

He “produces” letting other teams SCORE at a rate higher than EVERY SINGLE other defenseman he’s played with over the past 4 years

Add to that his big margin of offensive zone starts compared to defensive zone starts...
and he’s CONSISTENTLY on the ice for more goals against than those scored

How does all that happen if he’s GOOD defensively?

It’s been this way for like 4 years now

he's not good defensively, hes just not as terrible as you may think.

John Carlson has identical stats to him this year. on the ice for 12 goals for 5v5 and 17 against. Shattenkirk 12 and 16 with similar ice time

They’re on different teams
And I bet Carlson has more defensive zone starts
It would be one thing of Shattenkirk was getting the tough defensive assignments & playing in his own end more...
but that’s NOT the case

And this is an EVERY YEAR thing for Shattenkirk
