hamilton got the bruins a first and 2 seconds
hamonic got a first and 2 2nds
at most Kane gets a late first and a blah prospect
sabres are not looking to get another scandella, a better player - homiedclown
I'm not saying Scandella has been some kind of superhero, but I don't have a single goddamn problem with him, either. |

We would in all likelihood be trading for a guy with more upside than scandella. or at least more defensive or offensive upside than scandella (larsson, schmaltz etc.)
Im guessing when all is said and done it'll probably just be picks - Sabresfan-365
I get it
Of course Larsson has more upside...
but he could also just top out as a “Scandella”
Hopefully whatever defenseman we get will turn into a “top pair” guy
Bc if not,
sounds like we will lose this trade |

So then how do u explain,
that even though he gets so much more offensive zone starts...
he still gives up more goals every year than the others he plays with?
Shouldn’t it be the other way around?
I’d think the guys with more defensive zone starts should be giving up more goals - jdfitz77
The difference here isnt by 10 or 20 its literally a few goals which can be explained by the fact that he isnt a defensive d-man and as an offensive guy is far more likely to jump up in the rush. and again we're talking less than 5% difference in zone starts and maybe a difference of a few goals.
A better example here would be Ghost. He got like 10% less dzone starts than any other flyers d-man and was still on the ice for nearly twice as many goals against vs for. That's someone who can't play defence. |

Makes sense...
I’d just be more comfortable if we were getting a guy we KNEW was a better player (like Lindholm) and not a prospect we HOPE will become a better player
There’s been A LOT of really good defensive prospects who never lived up to what they were supposed to be
Guys like Bogosian come to mind
It’s just a lot to give up if the guy we trade for doesn’t become a stud |

It's good value for a guy who is out the door. You only lose this trade if you're stuck with a bad contract or let him walk for nothing. All other outcomes at least give you something of value, even if it's just futures and saving yourself from a bad contract. |

The disparity happens every year though
For me...
that’s more than enough to not want to give Shatty that huge contract
I’m interested in Carlson though
He’s not like Shattenkirk offensively,
but he can play defense
I saw the stats u posted for this year on him, but I bet he also gets the tough defensive assignments
And I’d bet his numbers have been better in the past as well
Just watching the 2 play,
u can tell Carlson is much better defensively than Shattenkirk |

I don’t look at it that way at all
I look at it as not getting max return for a good player
Maybe bc of the off ice stuff we just weren’t gonna get the type of return I’d like though?
But I think it sucks to kinda “sell low” on Kane
I’d rather just sign him & see if Sam + can get something done |

Elsa the spaniel's instinct is to work out in front of me, hoping to flush something. She is always hoping some effing pheasant or something is hiding somewhere in my neighbors' lawns.
She's only 7 months old, but I don't need a leash for her any more. If she gets too far out or when a car is coming I just whistle fast, and she comes right back.
When we play with the tennis ball out back, if she loses track of it in the air she knows to turn around and look at me. I can send her right, left, or further back just by pointing, and yelling "Hunt."
The new thing I'm teaching her is to lie down and be still when geese are overhead. When I hear them honking I just say "Geese up, Elsa" and she's starting to get it, a little. |

Last year was much more spread out. Alzner, orlov, niskanen and carlson kinda all saw similar competition and zone starts. |

Hahaha... Fair enough
I guess we will just have to see what happens
We should be talking to Edmonton, Vancouver & Vegas
They all have dumb ass GMs
Fasching + a pick for Nurse, Juolevi or Theodore
I know, not happening...
but those guys have been known to make some REALLY bad decisions |

I heard they are looking for a 2/3 d man that will make an impact long term - homiedclown
I understand the target and why that's what we need, just surprised at the price to acquire. Defenders are more expensive but Kane and Bailey, to me, is a stiff, stiff price. No wonder these young defenders never get moved. |

Vatanen is a 2nd pair guy imo
So I hope we don’t give up Kane + “Bailey” for him

wtf. - Der Kaiser
i've always been glass half full with this team long term, at least compared to 95% of the ppl who post here.
Just cause I didnt jump on the bylsma is the reason we're not a 95 point team bandwagon doesn't mean im not optimistic about the future especially with a new GM in charge. |
