I don't know how many teams have a better defense than OEL, Demers, Goligoski, Hjallmarson, Chychrun, Schen.
One thing that really elevates this into the top of the rankings is Chychrun, who has played zero games so far.
Also, their starting goalie is coming off a groin injury and has played only nine of twenty games. It's way too early to judge anything. - James_Tanner

Blues, for one. Pietrangelo, Parayko, Bouwmeester, Edmundson, Gunnarson, and Bortuzzo. Multiple high end prospects like Dunn & Walman behind them as well.
You keep bringing up injuries as if they are putting the Coyotes behind everyone. Blues have had just as many, and are towards the top of the league, so it's not a valid excuse. Bouwmeester normally plays top pairing, Fabbri second line, Berglund third line, Sanford fourth line... none of these guys have dressed for a single game yet. |

I typically agree w Tanner on most things but my spider sense tells me that Strome is a bust. Before you critique that, I assure you I have nothing to back it up other than how long it is taking him to break into the N with all his supposed scoring touch. - The_Big_Heen

how does chychrun elevate them into the top of the rankings?
well in your opinion how many teams do have a better defense then that group?
would you trade chychrun straight up for provorov? |

Let's be honest guys, the statistics tell you something about the head coach. Tochet does not win games as head coach. This isn't his first stint. |

A player, who has yet to play any games, is what makes the defense (currently playing the games) one of the best. That's some odd logic... |

he overrates chychurn's impact.
he looked good as a rookie, but made mistakes and he wasn't a a game changer. couple more years before he has a real impact. |

A little tip for you:
If you are trying to convince people that the Coyotes have a super-awesome defence, it's probably better to leave the name Schen (sic) out of your argument. |

To further my analogy, now as GM you just doubled down on your wrong prediction and I'm starting to doubt your judgement. Maybe it is time for a change... |

Ya strome, domi, Duclair are all over-hyped at this point. I would have trouble seeing more than one of them becoming a true top six forward in the league. Tanner loves his advanced stats and the Yotes are actually doing ok on many of those fronts. Decent corsi with a league #1 14 games where they scored first. That is where all the positives end. Their D-core would be better traded, as the younger talent will start producing as their entire D are on the back end of their careers. Poor goal tending isn't helping either. Not a single regulation win. This team isn't decent and these high end core players that Tanner keeps talking of are Keller, 2018 #1 draft, 2019 #1 draft. Those will be your best three players going forward.Time to sell. |

chychrun should be a good player going forward.
guys like strome and domi may take a little longer to hit their stride. but similar to jvr and kadri in toronto, they could still be good secondary pieces.
but agreed, they need top 3 picks in the next 2 drafts. |

Really????? They set the worst start to an NHL season ever. Yes I expect their winning % to go up, but that says nothing. Tanner what are the yotes paying you to write this? Hartford Wolfpack would dust these boys. |

That's hard to say. Like Taylor Hall and other early Edmonton Picks.... the youth movement needs to be supported by respected vets. They may be great players but the extra duties of leadership and performance expectations may be harming them.

I personally think the Coyotes are doing an excellent job of getting to Quebec.. |

My simple brain sees they are dead last in goals against per game, so i would suggest there are 30 teams with a better defense. |
