Well, to be fair half of those turned into ROR. And one of those is playing in Russia now.
- Wetbandit1

Half of those and then some......

True ROR is a good player, but you're hoping when you draft those guys you're getting a 1 and 2 defensemen and at least one really good center.

Instead we're staring at a #2 possible #1 defenseman (jury is still out), a guy that can't stay on his skates, ONE second line center....

And it wasn't like JUST two of those picks got ROR, it was those two picks one solid prospect and another first rounder...

That's why we're bad IMO.

Watching Eichel with Zemgus tonight just made me think of this....

In two years you get two first round picks each round....

You come out with one bonafide difference maker in Risto, the rest spare change and a bust...

That's why we're bad.

- gcomella34

What’s the “difference maker” success rate in the 1st round though?
Outside of the top5/10,
I’ll be there’s more guys like Girgs then there is like Pasternak

I agree, if we’d have “hit” with more of those picks we had, we'd obviously be better though

But we also traded away a bunch

It’s very fair to say that GMTM did a poor job managing all the assets that Regier acquired

I'd agree, the plan was to always flip the players for young "vets". There was no focus on development, which is why I like what Botterill is doing. The Sabres are going to stink, let the possible "A" prospects (Guhle, Ullmark, Nylander) stay in Rochester this year.

I think the assets were mismanaged in general
Bogo hasn’t worked out
Fasching hasn’t worked out, yet
We drafted a bunch of scrub forwards in the 2nd round when other teams picked defensemen who are projecting to be good players, or currently contributing

Many mistakes were made

What were Murray’s hits?
Acquiring Kane, ROR & drafting Guhle (we think)...
other than that, idk what u can point to where you’d say he did a “good” job?
Maybe signing Okposo?
But that would be based on last year,
obviously not this year

Oh, I get it now. No, I'm not saying this is the ONLY reason we're bad. It's just the perfect portrait of why we are.

I wouldn't disagree with anything you said there.

I seriously don’t want to hear that they need to “play the entire 60 minutes like they do the last 10”

There’s a reason that’s always the case with bad teams. The other team relaxes when up 3 freaking goals

You actually could see it for a good chunk of the third. They slowly started catching up in shots. SOG's or even the score don't accurately show how lopsided this game was.

The Blue Jackets style is to get up by a couple goals and attempt to lock it down with Bobrovosky in net.

It works.

Didn't Dan Bylsma try the same thing. We had a name for it...oh yeah, "Parking the Bus".

FYI, don’t listen to Hamster’s post game thoughts or player interviews on demand at the WGR app then. Technically CBus only had a 3 goal lead for 13 s. Not arguing though.

This team is trash and any wins they get from here on out are pure coincidence. Btw they are on pace to win 20 games.

McDermott is really sounding like he is considering starting Peterman next week.

Either he really is or he is "keeping the Chiefs guessing"

- Stripes77

tyrod is not the solution

just like if the sabres trade kane, they will not get a better player in return
