GMPC is not my boy. I've been calling him an idiot since he traded Schultz for (frank) all .

Our GM traded an entire line of forwards + downgraded at defense to get 3 meaningless years from Evander Kane.

Yeah but he didn't trade anything of the same quality of Hall, Eberle and Schultz for Adam Larsson and a bunch of never will be's. |

Did you trade a 1st for a goalie who takes his state mandated lunch breaks during the shootouts? |

Chia is infinitely worse. He traded Seguin for Eriksson.
Checkmate. |

No we trade a 1st and a second for an slowfooted, coke headed Defender that couldn't stick with the (frank)ing Islanders. |

Yeah. This is bad too
We at least got ROR, which helped prevent possibly getting Matthews |

Well after sucking the worst or winning the lottery in all the wrong years I'm glad we got lucky enough to get McDavid. Too bad he'll be the modern day Marcel Dionne. |

At least Jack and Connor don't have to worry about getting drafted to the wrong team and seeing the other one succeed.
There's Matthews for that. |

We started the rebuild with bare cupboards ( Eberle and Jeff Petry were the only prospects to amount to anything), failed to maximize on returns for the NHL'ers we had ( Penner, Hemsky, Horcoff, and Souray netted us Oscar Klefbom in total). We had career ending injuries ( Ryan Whitney) and draft Busts ( Yakupov). We had players that never progressed enough ( Gagner) and we attracted (frank) all for free agents.
Even with good luck and a good prospect base it takes 5 years to complete a successful rebuild ( Quebec/Colorado, Penguins) or a decade of being pretty bad ( LA, Toronto, Chicago), especially if you rely on the draft to fill out the 10 players core ( I think the average team drafts 1.5 players that end up being key on average per year. So to add the remaining players to compliment Hall and Eberle and Petry it would reasonably take 4 more years of good drafting and a couple years on top of that to allow for development.
All the idiots would say the Oilers needed to trade one of our young forwards for a defender, even if we lost the trade, because it would improve the team overall. We did that with Hall for Larsson. Defence is better, can't score worth a poop nowadays.
Add in moving Schultz for nothing and Eberle for barely more, and giving away draft picks for poopty defenceman that cant crack an Islanders blue line we still don't have the 10 core players 7 years later....if one of them wasn't McDavid I have no doubt we would be worse than Arizona.
Mc David, Draisaitl, Talbot, Klefbom, RNH, Larsson. Maybe Lucic. Maybe Nurse. THAts it. |

I guess what I’m wondering is how that relates to the situation here in Buffalo,
and what we can learn from some of your mistakes
One thing I read that resonates is how u didn’t get quality back for a lot of the pieces you moved
I guess that where I’m at with these trade Kane & Reinhart debates
If we can move one (or even both) of them for a top pair defenseman...
ok, great
That would make sense to me
But if all we can get is draft picks who are most likely gonna top out as a 3rd liner, or 2nd pair guy...
well then it seems like that would be a pretty dumb trade on our part
Basically...
trading out Good players for what becomes average players (and 4 years down the road) is something I want ZERO part of
Thanks for your breakdown
Appreciate it |

Arguable
Myers has actually missed more time than Bogosian (was surprised to see that)
But if u wanted to trade those 2 straight up right now, I wouldn’t argue it
But I would DEFINITELY NOT trade Kane back for the rest of the pieces we gave up though
I don’t think that’s even remotely close
And it’s not Kane’s fault we haven’t been good these past few years

I think that trade is somehow linked in his mind to when his wife left him.

Moulson 50% retained for a pick.
Bogosian 40% retained for a pick.
Okposo for a pick.
Reinhart for a D man.
Sign Kane and Tavares.
This S*** is easy. |

Well yeah, his newborn almost died last year. He's far more productive than Bogosian is as a player, and signed for one less year (both are over paid)
As far as forwards, when Kane resigns, we can talk, if Kane walks or is traded as a rental, for picks that will take years to develope, while Armia continues to produce, Roslovic is one of the leading scorers in the AHL, and Lemiuex is over a PPG in the AHL, we look like idiots.

The current state of the Sabres was captured best over 60 years ago...
In the Wizard of Oz.
The team is in search of its
-Heart from leadership I. The player ranks
-Brains from the collective players to actually play a system, any system for Christ’s sake
-Courage to commit themselves to higher compete level and a win at all costs mentality
They have a clueless Wizard in the Pegula’s
And a wondering Dorothy in their GMs over the years
I just wish it was all a dream |

Yeah, and Bailey, Baptiste, Tennyson, Falk, etc are solid AHLers.
Talk to me when Aria and Roslovic make it to the NHL let alone contribute at a 30 goal clip 5v5 in THE NHL.
Good god. |
