Yeah, and Bailey, Baptiste, Tennyson, Falk, etc are solid AHLers.
Talk to me when Aria and Roslovic make it to the NHL let alone contribute at a 30 goal clip 5v5 in THE NHL.
Good god. - IonSabres
Good god is right.
Talk to me when Kane is resigned. Until then he's a rental that has played ****0*** important games as a Sabre. |

Even at his best, his play was either barely at or a little bit under the value that he was being paid. Best case scenario, which is unlikely for a number of reasons, he gets back there. The more likely scenario is that he declines. The smart play is to move him if you can before getting out from under his deal becomes near impossible. - buffalofan19
With this mentality, the only approach to take in FA would be to sign either bargain basement players for around $1M or no brainer types like Tavares?
I don't know how you construct an entire team of players that "outperform their salaries". This isn't like bargain shopping online. |

The problem is signing guys that you can almost guarantee won't live up to the deal in 3-4 years, and signing them to 7 years deals
Edit- If you are competing for a cup in that 3-4 year window, it makes it worth it |

Not his fault the team around him is complete and utter dog poop.
He IS IN THE NHL AND CONTRIBUTING AT A VERY HIGH LEVEL.
Those guys all go to bed at night dreaming of when they will play in the league, let alone be a significant contributor.
But hey, what do I know.
You continue to prove your judgement of him is very clouded, there is no hope for you with Kane. |

How many quality players hit FA and play well for even half the life of the contract they get?
Almost every quality FA signed has a contract that pays them too much for too long.
The only way around that is to only sign guys like Pouilot, which is fine, but also means you better draft very, very well for several years in a row. |

I do too, and JB>>>>Chiarelli. I just dont want to re-sign kane lol. but the rest of it Im optimistic about.
Speaking of. Guess who's second in the nhl in primary points 5v5 even though hes apparently been terrible? hint: it's not girgensons - Sabresfan-365
It simply can’t be Eichel, he is being slowed down by Kane.
Coincidental that you primary set up guy has a guy finishing those set ups and the set up guy has assist production.
No if we could get him driving the net hard, winning battles in front of the net, maybe he would pot some primary goals too and increase that side of the equation. |

Armia has the same amount of points as Sam Reinhart this year. I'm not sure what you're talking about.
Lemiuex played in the NHL this season, Roslovic is one of the leading scorers in the AHL.
They all will be contributing in the league, probably while Kane is somewhere else |

Shocking that you're on the Armia bandwagon again after his recent 5 point run in the last 4 games when he had a grand total of 3 before that. |

I don't get what this means.
He's a useful, cheap player while we ice Matt Moulson and Jordan Nolan's consistently.
You want to know why we suck so bad? Because our depth is god awful, while teams like the Jets ice 4 lines and 3 pairs full of NHL caliber players. |

Silent sam 228th in nhl points 9 points total
Armia 267th in nhl points 8 points total
Maybe they are good at hockey compared to you and me , but statistically compared to other nhl players - they are not good
Both 1st round picks
Derek grant 10 points 197th in nhl points |

One is considered a role player, and plays his role well
One was a player we tanked for in 2014.
I'm not saying Armia is better than Reinhart, or even close to the player Kane is right now.
My point is that this roster is shallow of NHL players, and we are about to lose Kane as a UFA, or trade him as a rental (I don't see us resigning him unless they move salary, like immediately)

Joel Armia selected 16 overall was a "Throw in" and is the opposite of high expectations.
Trading the 21st overall pick for a starting NHL goaltender was a complete waste of a very valuable pick. |

I think armia is a few years older and on a much better , higher scoring team.
Matt dushane was just traded. If ottawa doesn't resign him after 2 plus years of playing for them, does that make ottawa lose the trade? |

This whole argument is the splitting of hairs.
Right now the Sabres are bad. We could definitely use some of the players that were traded way, but hindsight is 20/20.
Who knows what this team would look like now without ROR, Kane, Bogo, and Lehner and the picks/pieces used to acquire them still here.

At the very worst, one more spot down the standings.
