well considering he brought all of those players in, maybe - robz228
He may have brought them in but I doubt he saw it as moves that would put the team over the top. most were low risk moves designed to keep the younger players in the AHL. |

Alex was great,we took a flyer on him. A calculated risk to get him out of russia, those are the decisions that make teams great - Buffalo39
I agree that mccabe is overrated, e rod and mittlestat havnt proved anything yet.
Our drafting has been brutal.
Risto was a good pick at 8. Back to back 40 point seasons on a bad team. |

its a good question. we are all looking at it from the POV that byslma and murray were canned because they weren't winning, so these guys were brought in to win.
maybe behind the scenes they were starting over again the whole time? |

Agreed, but now what? Kind of feels like either way fans have to be patient till new management can round out the core and fill the rest with competent players. - Sabresfan-365
Well, yes - but again, I don't think it's as hopeless or as long term as the rest of the Schleprocks do.
Keep the assets we have accumulated on the big squad.
Add to them. There are assets in the AHL that are not being permitted to contribute to the National club yet. There are acquisitions that can be made to fill out areas of need.
We have cap space, and more coming off before 2018-19.
This year has been harder than it should be due to injuries and underperformance from the secondary roles. I think our core people have done their jobs. |

Honestly, what core people have done there jobs? Kane and who else? I think eichel has not had a good year and has been lazy. Who else is our core?

Agreed for the most part. Guhle, Nylander, Mittelstadt, 2018 1st round pick.
Botts could do nothing but trim the fat/dead weight off the team and he'd make them significantly better next year |

It's worse this year because you weren't trying to lose this time. - BINGO!
Who says we aren't trying to lose?
Nolan
Tennyson
Fedun
Belivue
Josefson
Griffin
Lehner and chad
That's not a winning formula
#stealthtank
Maybe this year we do not invite rasmus dahlan and other top prospects to play in buffalo, basically taunting the nhl. Promoting losing on purpose . Maybe the draft lottery falls a different way

Thats a strong core. I think we try so hard in buffalo to make our team better then they are. We have awful talent. If we didnt make the mistake of drafting sam 2nd overall, he would be with his other two brothers in the ahl |

No. The intact half of our core as I see it is ROR, Kane, Jack, Risto. The three you identify were "core candidtates" that - as yet - have not become part of the core, and may never.
Okposo felled by a totally unforseeable disease. He hasn't come back as we would have liked. He might have once been seen as a candidate for the core, but it doesn't appear that will work out. That misfortune doesn't change the quality of the pick up at the time.
Reinhart. He isn't filling the role he was drafted to fill, but we know his draft class was viewed as weak. He can still be a valuable player in his new role, but I'm not beyond using him as currency in the right situation.
Lehner. Raw talent who I love as a guy, but I don't see the raw talent coming together as a refined high skill tender. I takes him too long to get re-composed if he has to go down on the first save. I have a sense that he finally got over the shoot out yips (he's made some great saves on breakaways), so the emotional part of me still holds out hope that he can get past the "recomposure" piece too, but at this point I am not beyond examining the market come June, 2018. |

Der komissar, you know that was one of the big reason why murray was canned. Everyone in the NHL knew about okposo instability, murray ignored it. The lehner trade was awful. We had halaak and neuvirth who are alot better and what did we get 3rd rounders?when you trade a first, you get martin jones, not some fish out of water

This is not at all clear - I liked Neuwirth but he can't even get himself a starting gig in the league. Halak's numbers and Lenners are really very close.
The nugget on Okposo is the kind of wild ass rumor that is your specialty, but you have only landed one of those so far - and the rest are just Chiquorin. the price thing is starting to look bad for you.

Coach Housley says Ristolainen is now day-to-day & he’s “very close” to a return. He skated today, as did Bogosian, who is also getting closer to returning. |

Bogosian will tweak a toenail and be out for two months after one game. He likes when it SNOWS in buffalo. Takes time off |
