Ottawa's total differential was -29. +/- is a pointless stat.

I don't think that matters though, because EK doesn't play all game. Other people might pick up slack or cause more issues. Im talking as one player and how often he was scored on while he was iced. If he was a forward I wouldn't care, but I believe a D's first job is to stop pucks. I suppose if you can create as much offense as him it doesn't matter.
I guess my pt is I want old school hockey back where Dmen punished people and actually played D. |

So Karlsson plus/minus matters but not Ottawa's total plus/minus. What a take.
Ok how bout this, last year the Sens had a total goal differential of minus 2. Karlsson was a +10. What does that say about your theory? |

Ha. You mean like Bobby Orr, Ray Bourque, Paul Coffey, Brian Leetch, Nik Lidstrom, Scott Neidermeyer, Brad Park, Mattheiu Schneider and Phil Housely? |

You can't compare a whole teams stats to a personal stat. They contribute to one another but don't tell whole picture. My theory doesn't change one bit. |

Why does everyone feel like they need to be some type of Richard on Internet forums. I'll never understand. Don't take it so personally bud. |

Why it's the same thing. Plus/Minus for Karlsson and the rest is calculated in the entire goal differential . Karlsson was 12 goals better than the majority of his team last year. |

Because what you're saying is factually wrong. Right now. if Karlsson retired he'd be one of the 100 best defensemen to ever play. The math says you're wrong, but keep telling "Back in my d-men cleared the crease and let the forwards do all the work." |

Exactly, its calculated but not same thing.. EK plays on a line with 4 other people. That leaves 15 other plays that contribute negatively or positively to the teams stat, which EK has no control over. |

Actually, that’s exactly what the “relative” part stands for. |

the mental gymnastics some of you jump through is unreal. your "eye-test" nonsense and garbage about GRIT/60% is just useless. What are you proving by saying you don't want good players on your team? |
