With their GM of the year candidate, they are sitting with no movable assets and no money. (as in they can't move any good players because they can't afford to lose them)

No money? they actually currently have 7.5 million worth of cap space. Chia was saving for trade deadline , but probably should of used it in the summer instead.

Honestly I think the Oilers will be OK. The exact same thing happened to the Flames. Had one good season, fell back year 2, then came back up again in year 3. Now year 4 they are actually resembling a team that know how to win (somewhat haha).

Talbot a one season wonder?

Chia scouting Buffalo to trade RNH for a D man?

Strome for Eberle a mistake?

Hall for Larsson a mistake?

TMac is no longer getting buy in from the players?

Can they expect any kind of depth in the future with McDavid and Drai eating up 30% of the available cap space?

Oilers fans going to get fed up and go back to trashing their team all the time?

New arena going to be half empty in a few years?

Tire fire. Just that simple. Relying on 2 scoring lines when the league has moved towards a 3 scoring line system.

Add Kassian to the list of players taking lots of bad penalties. Starting to see why other teams have given up on him, occasional moments of greatness, but lacking consistency. Seeing lots of bad puck management by our D in our own zone, as well as lots of terrible passing. Ugh.

Sure we could trade the Nuge for some D, but that creates more holes in our offense. I know lots of people think RNH is crap but he is actually scoring this year and is stronger defensively this year than before. Is Strome a 2nd line centre? nope. Move Drai to 2nd line, then who plays RW with McJesus? Sure we could move Drake Caguilla up to 1RW but he doesn't have the scoring prowess that is needed for that role.

So many frustration.

If only Edmonton had some talented top 6 wingers to work with

The absolute FAIL in what Chia has done is not obtaining Picks and Prospects for the guys deemed not a fit going forward

Hall and Eberle trades needed to include either a 1st or a high 2nd. Those picks, along with Edmontons own picks will serve to provide the cheap depth needed when Extensions for the star players kick in

On top of that, not having a bonafide #1 minute eating defenseman will be the nail in the coffin. Klefbom's ceiling is a #2 and the rest are #3 guys at best

This year that group he traded away has 25 goals and 68 points

The group acquired? 5 goals, 11 points from the two that are actually in the NHL.

Not sure what is more sad or pathetic- Chia doing all this- or the 12 steps of upper Oiler managment that let it happen...

That trade tree is ridiculous.

Magnus Paajarvi & 2014 2nd round pick (Ivan Barbashev) for Perron
Perron for 2015 1st and Rob Rob Klinkhammer (left UFA)
2015 1st and 2015 2nd for Griffin Reinhart (Expansion Claim)

2015 1st - Barzal 2015 2nd (Mitchell Stephens...could have been Sebastian Aho)

Yep. Stephens was at 33, Aho was 35, Brandon Carlo at 37.
