Holding huge chunks of contract on so many players is a dumb idea. - Larsson_fan
Typical douche bag response, name calling.ok 2nd grader...
Depends on definition of dumb.
Is it better to hold these bloated contracts for term on guys who contribute zilch every Night? Cause that is the option.
I’m proposing taking you medicine for next year and free up cap space and spots for more productive players to see the roster.
Ok, your turn.
See how maturity works..try it, come on stretch yourself.

i wouldn't hold salary on the longer term deals. tends to hurt you long term like a buyout would.
Could do it for bogo and pommer cause of the term, likely get some value for it. - Sabresfan-365
I should have stated for one year...which makes doing so problematic for a guy like Okposo obviously...hence why growing a prospect in to make it more palatable...not sure it would work but worth a test drive. |

i read it in a sbnation article, seemed relatively reliable.
You're right though, very lazy of me not to double check the source. If only ryan callahan could have taught me otherwise. |

from capfriendly:
"and also retains the percentage of the cap hit until the contract expires"
I don't think you can choose how many years you retain. I think it's just the percentage you retain over the duration of that contract.
Leafs retained a small percentage of kessel's deal, but that's applied every year for the rest of the deal. |

Gotta say, lovin’ my new 65” LG OLED 4K tv...awesome picture, great features, perfect size for family room...70” would be at the outer limits, but nothing remotely comparable.

Callahan type, in terms of leadership, playing style, dedication, doing the ugly work than wins...Agreed at 32 his point production isn’t there anymore, but has averaged 0.5+ over his career...
The point was a younger version of him, not sure who that is, maybe you know? |

That eliminates Okposo then, welp we found our $7.5m 4th line RW, lol.
Actually, hope he continues to get better, given the debalacle contract having him on the 3rd might be the reality of it.

is the game even played that way anymore? Everything has shifted towards puck possession/movement, speed, skill. The whole grind em down game is more or less dead.
Defensive d-men used to be shot blockers, bruisers and fighters. Now it's guys like Lindholm and Manson. Puck movers, smooth skaters good sticks. you look around the best teams in the league...how many callahan types do they have if at all? |

There's a decent chance compliance buyouts are added at the next lockout so there's that too. |

What happened to KC though?
I thought they were a “lock”
But if they lose today,
SD would only be 1 game behind them
There’s a scenario where SD wins the division & we get in over KC for one of the WC spots
That would be weird
Of course,
we’d have to win some more games... |
