I dunno, Risto's XGF has come along nicely and I bet Scandella's would look better on the 2nd pair.
We just don't have anyone that you could turn to and say "yeah he can shut down the other teams top line" - Sabresfan-365
I'd like to see that stay this way over time though.
We literally have 0 goals from the blue line uin 24 games. We need an offensive D man incredibly bad right now |
|
|
|
We need a Manson + a Shattenkirk
We also need a Stone + Marchessault - sbroads24
I wonder if we could get Marchessault in FA |

No, top 6.
Bottom 6 is Larsson, Girgs, Moulson, Griffith, Nolan, and Josefson. - sbroads24
Gotcha. My point is, if our bottom six was Pominville, Pouliot, Okposo, Josefson, Erod and some other PK vet for 4c, and you had a new 2RW and 2LW, this is a totally different team. It would be very competitive imo |

Absolutely, but that also means your top 6 is better.
I think Jack is fine.
I think ROR is fine as your #2 center, or top line wing, but he can't be this teams 2nd best forward IMO.
We need our version of Malkin/Kucherov/Pavelski etc. |

I can't quote from the last blog on mobile but I'm fairly confident in botts finding cost effective forwards and nylander/mittelstadt replacing Kane. He's a goal scoring winger who is worse than useless without the puck. Let's not pretend he's some franchise guy. The goal scoring will come when the team can finally move the puck well from the d zone and complete passes with some sort of consistency - Sabresfan-365
So give me an example of your option “c”
Or just write up your top3 lines for next year |

That's why I think we should spend a few assets to jettison Bogo and Moulson, and trade Larsson and girgs. You free up like 17 mil this summer to find one 2W and hope Nylander or Mittelstadt can take the other. The team suddenly looks much different |

option c would be bringing in a cost effective forward through FA or a buy low player or two through a trade.
Nylander stays on line 3 and the money you would have spent on kane is spent on spreading the scoring and getting it from 3 lines and whatever the return for him is.
It's way too early to draw up lines cause between now and then we don't really know who's going to be available. |

U can still give an example of a player
What type player can we get on the cheap to replace Kane’s scoring & still keep Nylander on line3?
I feel like the kind of guy you’re talking about are like Pouliot
That’s a HUGE step down from Kane |

Kane-Eichel-Reinhart
Bailey-O’Reilly-Okposo
Nylander-Mittelstadt-Pominville
Having a 3rd line that can score 50 goals instead of 15 will be a pretty big help |

I would just like more speed and a shock to the locker room, plus I think they're totally replaceable. If someone wanted them, and it helped defray the cost of parting with Bogo and Moulson, that's a big win imo
I also think Erod is light years better than both |

Girgensons has speed
In the case of using them to get rid of a bad contract... ok
I’m not shipping off guys who are decent players for a 3rd round pick that will likely never amount to anything though

Ok,
but I don’t need him to be a Top Line player right away
Development doesn’t stop once u get to the NHL
Let him start on line3 & work his way up |

He has ok speed, but 0/10 ability to stay on his skates, and he's lost all toughness and finishing ability. It'll make a fun reclamation project for a skating coach somewhere else |

I think it’s blown out of proportion
I’m ok if we move on from Girgs,
but I don’t think we have to
He’s fine in a 4th line role IMO
The “shock to the locker room” point is overrated imo
If they’re playing hard, then they’re fine
E Rod isn’t proven at the NHL level though
I like him too
Girgensons-Larsson-Rodrigues
can be the 4th line next year
Then he can potentially move up when there’s injuries
Too much change can hinder us as well |
