I'd like to see that stay this way over time though.

We literally have 0 goals from the blue line uin 24 games. We need an offensive D man incredibly bad right now

- sbroads24

We need an NHL defenseman in an incredibly bad way right now. When you're forced to play your 10th defenseman for 1/3 of the season so far, you're in a spot of trouble.

U can still give an example of a player

What type player can we get on the cheap to replace Kane’s scoring & still keep Nylander on line3?

I feel like the kind of guy you’re talking about are like Pouliot
That’s a HUGE step down from Kane

- jdfitz77

Pouliot is the extreme version. a reclamation/buy out guy . I dont think they have to reduce to that but even still Pouliot and Kane have the same amount of goals 5v5.

He has ok speed, but 0/10 ability to stay on his skates, and he's lost all toughness and finishing ability. It'll make a fun reclamation project for a skating coach somewhere else

He's done it 2 years in a row on 2 different teams. He's going to make a ton of money, maybe not $6M. I was exaggerating a bit.

More to the point was he's not going to be some dirt cheap guy that comes in and blows the doors off the place which was Broads' point.

Edit: Never mind on the Broads' point thing. I was conflating a few different posts.

I’m guessing he was referencing the movie A Few Good Men
Great flick

I’ve spoken to a lawyer who knows and he says “strenuously object” is something only said by people who have no idea in the courtroom.

I’d guess that’s an aberration

And I’m just struggling to see how that type of guy could come close to providing what Kane does
And not just scoring
Speed, physical play, forcheck, PK

He’s not a 1 hit wonder
And I think he will be MUCH harder to replace than you’re thinking

I don’t see the sense in saving $$$ by not signing Kane
Bc then we will be saying we need to get a top line LW

I knew it was a thing to say I didn’t know it was A Few Good Men (but it might have been subconscious)

Does the phsyical play/forcheck actually translate into anything besides poorly timed offensive zone penalties.

His PK work is nice, but not the kind of thing that makes you say he's irreplaceable.

That's the context of the movie. She wasn't a litigator, she was in way over her head. And he hammered her for it.

Sure
Turnovers or bad passes that eventually result in change of possession

U really think physical play & good forechecking don’t matter?
