that's what you're describing in kane no? I agree it doesn't preclude them from winning, it's also not such a necessity that moving on from him would cripple this teams ability to score.

We had 0 controlled zone exits from the d-men in the first period. zero. A competent blueline will go a long ways to to help this team score more.

In fact, I’d rather keep him than Ryan O’Reilly at this point because I’m becoming convinced O’Reilly is superbly over rated.

But I don’t think it’s that hard to replace a guy that will ride shotgun with Jack Eichel

1st line centres are usually worth the massive payment. they make players around them better too

goal scoring wingers are rarely worth what they sign for, especially in the latter half of their deal.
